- rldcarync| 2 repliesThanks everyone for the caution and add me to the list of no way am I calling back. Text message to my iPhone at 12:36PM reads "Spectrum: We've detected an issue affecting your services. Please call 833-778-2754 today to schedule a service appointment at no cost to you". Also I just submitted a Robocall Report on this Text to the North Carolina Attorney General at https://ncdoj.gov/report-robocalls/

- KathyI also received a text with the same message as above. Not having an issue so entered the number into google, and found this site. Won't be responding to the text or calling the number. Thanks all who reported

- Pandy| 2 repliesAfter receiving a phone call saying that a technician from Spectrum was needed to check on a problem, I called Spectrum Customer Service and , sure enough, the call had originated from them. It is a valid call from Spectrum. I apologize for being so mistrustful.

- BigA replies to PandyAll these other people who called and were told it is a scam are liars? The only liar I see is the scummy scammer that keeps posting here under different screen names.
- ChrisCalled Spectrum service at 800-892-4357 and they confirmed that 833-778-2754 belongs to their dispatch office. Call the service number on your bill or log into your account. I did, and it said on my 'internet status' page that there is a connection issue. Internet seemed to be working, though. I then talked to a service rep at the 800 number and she confirmed that they see line issues that require a service call. I thought it was fake, too, but now seems legit to me.

- Anna MariaI received the same text as everyone else. I called Spectrum to verify and the representative asked what number I called and I told her the number I have saved in my phone, NOT the number in the text. She told me to call the number in the text! Not today, I don’t have any issues with my service and this smells like a scam!! So much for reporting this issue to Spectrum!!! I appreciate this thread and everyone who took the time to report this!

- Trish replies to Johns 833 a legitimate area code?
This case is fictional, but it represents a common example of an 833 area-code scam. Many individuals and businesses use the 833 area code and others to easily register toll-free numbers. Scammers and spammers will robocall phone numbers and leave voicemails to ensnare targets. - PamGot the text same as everyone else and knew it was a scam as u cant get an appointment with spectrum when something is wrong so how are they really contacting us when nothing is wrong just a pure scam
- Caller: Spectrum

- Shane| 1 replyAs a Spectrum employee I can confirm that this is a legitimate Spectrum phone number. It is a proactive maintenance notification from our automated system to inform you our system has identified issues with the signals coming to your equipment and to contact us in order to schedule a technician to fix it.

I called Spectrum and spoke to customer service and they confirmed that the text was 100% legitimate.

- TiffanyI usually block unknown numbers, but have it turned of temporarily. This number left a message claiming to be Spectrum, wanting to come out an fix some type of issue. No mail or email was received, therefore I already knew it was a scam.
- Caller: Spam unknown caller (Spectrum)
- G.P. replies to G.P.Got another text from 87598 on 3/31/22 and this one said "Spectrum: As a reminder, an issue is affecting your services. Call (833) 778-2754 today to schedule a service appointment at no cost." Am I calling the number? As George H.W. Bush said about eating broccoli... "Not gonna do it!"
- Mike replies to JohnI recently was contacted via email by Spectrum. They did not have a cell phone number to text me. I too was leery to make the call fearing it could be a scam. So I got my Spectrum bill for their customer service phone number. Called them to confirm the legitimacy of the message. They have initiated a program to identify and contact customers who may need repairs. They were able to come out the same day and fix some bad wiring.
It is so rare for a large business to think of the small customer’s needs. Could not have been more pleased with the quick and efficient end result. - Olivia Radfordthey told me they where making a appointment to fix my services they text me on my cell phone
- Caller: text me on cell phone

- Chile| 1 replyI got the same text as everybody else and came here after googling. My service is just fine so not calling back.
Wonder what the scam is. - shea| 1 replyReceived both a text and a voice mail about this same thing. Normally I would just delete and forget about it, but....the creepy part w/ this one is that they had my husband's first name exactly as Spectrum has it listed (it has a misspelling that we've never corrected). So I'm changing our passwords. Seems like they've somehow gotten into our real account.
- Caller: Spectrum
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Nimrod replies to sheaThis does not, necessarily, mean that anyone got into your account. Phone companies sell subscriber listings to third-parties for online phone listings and reverse-lookup lists. If Spectrum sold your listing it would have included the misspelling of your husband's name since that is what they have in their records. There is no guarantee that these third-party outfits spend a lot on computer security, so it is possible that they have been hacked and your phone listing information is available on the "dark web".
Whether or not your account has been hacked, it is a good idea to change your account password on a regular basis, and to make sure that it is not the same or similar to passwords you use on other accounts on the web. - Cynthia TibblesI got a text from this # this morning and am not calling it back!! So many scams and spam you have to be so careful... Am not calling it back, I have a lot of problems with scammers texting, emailing etc. and not getting scammed again...
- joiReceived a text this morning about Spectrum indicating a problem with my services. So I ran this phone number in google search and found out that it's a scam - which most are. Never received a text before from Spectrum, therefore it was a red flag for me.
