I also got a text from number 87598 saying:

“Spectrum: We’ve detected an issue affecting your services. Please call 833-778-2754 today to schedule a service appointment at no cost to you.”

I do get regular Spectrum texts from 87598 (e.g. "Your latest bill statement is now available at spectrum.net/billing"), but this one looks suspicious. I've never known Spectrum to be this proactive in improving service. Someone previously reported they called the number and was asked for their address. Spectrum would not need to ask you for an address.

It's not a scam. It's the same text account they use to verify you if you don't know your security code. I called spectrum on a different lphone # to verify.  855-757-7328

Received call also from  833-778-2754 today, advising that they would be in my area checking lines and we may have an interruption, would also like to know if someone would be available to have them check inside home, advised service was fine, didn't care to be bothered, did not ask for address or any other info.
Also very suspicious, contacted Spectrum Customer Service on their published number,  got a supervisor, after checking,  advised that 833 number was Spectrum's Maintenance Department.

An email like this saying the same thing. It had my first name, the last four digits of my account number, and the address where I get my spectrum service (which is not my mailing address). It sounded legitimate, but just to be sure I went on the Spectrum, signed on to my account, and opened a chat session. They confirmed that Spectrum had sent this.

Since I see that this has not been brought up yet on this thread:
Forward unwanted spam/scam texts to 7726 (SPAM) and let your phone service provider deal with them.
That number was set up by the phone companies to combat spam texts and they can shutdown offending phone numbers.
Never reply with "STOP", scammers will not honor the request (they have no honor to begin with) and it only verifies that they have texted to a valid number and a person who reads their texts.  It will not STOP the texts and may actually make them more frequent.
Never click on a link in such a text as it may cause malware to be inserted on your phone, and even if it does not, just as with replying "STOP" the scammers will know they reached a valid number.

looking back at page 1, I notice that this scam has only been going on for less than a month.
If people would start reporting it, it might be brought to a halt in a short time.

Got a text from this number, same message, “We’ve detected..” Set up appointment! Oh oh! Maybe I’ll just have the police here and wait for them to come…a sting operation!

I got the same message from the same number. I'm definitely not calling about it. There has been no problem with my service from Spectrum.

I have received numerous verification codes and billing/ payment info from spectrum through texts from 87598 in the past. The last one was April 2021. When I received the message this morning, "Spectrum: We’ve detected an issue affecting your services. Please call 833-778-2754 today to schedule a service appointment at no cost to you", it looked suspicious. I called spectrum customer service and they did not send the text. I blocked and reported the number since spectrum no longer uses it for text notifications. They gotta get a lot smarter to catch me in a scam.

I don't think that 7726 works with short codes.

Same, I've received this text from the same # several times, but didn't respond and skeptical that it was legit. Now I'll block and report it!

I have to say, I am SO happy to see so many people are alert to these scams! Let me share my experience… I also received this text and was not about to call that number, but I actually HAVE been having very frustrating intermittent internet service so, I called Spectrum directly using a different phone number. The technician on the line checked my internet connection and confirmed that she did in fact see a problem requiring a home visit. I then told her about the text message I had received and she verified that the text did actually come from Spectrum.

I will have to try it the next time I get a text from a short code and I will let you know what happens.
May take a while though, I do not tend to get many unwanted texts and few of those are from short codes.

I haven't lately either but when I did and I tried to report it I got a message back that they could not accept short codes.

Same phone call advising cable issue, free inspection etc. from 833-778-2754.
Just sounded suspicious.
Called Spectrum customer service number on my bill, asked for supervisor, she checked 833-778-2754, and confirmed it was Spectrum maintenance department number.
Advised she would bring matter up to her supervisor.

First, called Spectrum. Not them. Then, from a Google voice number with it saying "anonymous" to the scammers, I called and it was the identical intro and prompts as Spectrum. I hung up, screenshot the text and emailed it to Scammer Payback on YouTube. Highly recommend watching him get back at these POS scammers!

Received a text message from this number. Said to call the number to schedule a service call. I called Spectrum Customer service instead. They explained that the problem was an issue in my area that I would not be able to detect on my end.

This is a legitimate call!

Everyone is freaking out for nothing.

I scheduled a service appointment and a Spectrum service technician arrived in a Spectrum Service truck. Guy checked strength of signal on all my TV boxes and outside connections, and also checked my Wi-Fi connections and speed. I was having occasional problems with the TV signal being weak and/or going off completely for a few seconds.

Now these issues are resolved!

THIS IS A LIGAMENT CALL FROM SPECTRUM!

Service tech was very helpful and professional. They just have to make sure that the individual customer is getting the proper signal strength at each location after they completed some work in my area.

If you are suspicious just call the Costumer Service number first.

Got the same text message. I called Spectrum technical support. Only note they had on my account is to offer me their wifi service.  They made it seem like they were aware of the text but when I asked them if there really is a problem with my internet service, they said no. I posted this text on Reddit and whole bunch of Spectrum guys were like yeah you should call them, it’s the guys on the frontlines seeing a problem and putting in a preventive request before service goes out but think that’s total BS. I’ve not had any problem since getting the same text message 6 months ago.

100% identity theft probe. Spectrum does NOT text, email, or call you for anything except to tell you your automatic bill pay for the month was processed.

I got the same text today.  Thanks for the warnings - not calling.

Thank you, everyone, for all the reports. We just received this call and it seemed odd.  It was a recording same as everyone else reported, that started without me answering. I am not calling them of course.
