- Acme replies to Slim| 1 replyConsider yourselves successful! As a target and near victim of the phony IRS and definite victim of "borrowed" identy I now check this site daily for any new scams or any relevant consumer information that regular posters make available. In the past month, or maybe two, I have seen many more informed readers. Even scammers, businesses and debt collectors check this site! This past week I received calls from seven spoofed numbers that all went unanswered (with no way to leave a message) while I checked 800notes. If possible to google information on a business I always write a review saying that I am on the DNC list and would NEVER consider doing business with a company that does not honor that list. Twice I have found information I think would be of interest but failed with posting as my skills are lacking so I am thrilled competent, informed people are willing and able to keep us all informed. I consider this site the "Consumer Reports" of our communication systems - take no money, cannot be bribed and efficient.
- Gunnar replies to Slim| 2 repliesWe're becoming the "Old Guard" my friend. I like it. We're so damn old that we're welcoming a new breed in. Some are damn good. I have always appreciated the research done by the regulars. I've said it before, we're the best of the best. Okay, on occasion I've said it before in way that roused some interest. Alska Broder!
Seriously, we have made an impact. All of us have. Here & elsewhere. I do my thing. Go quiet. Reappear. Things happen. Quietly. Usually. We all do what we believe in. Helping others from being....
I've been watching this trend of temporary registered users working the voting. We've always had the registered Trolls. We toyed with them. They were like tamed Hamsters unaware that they had limited life-spans. This new hatch are more targeted. In a way they're kind of congratulatory. They prove that this site is hurting them. None the less, I find them annoying. I report them. It's up to the admin. to determine what's up. We both know that the admin. is pressed to do that. J. never did figure out what to do with me most of the time.
Take care brother. I'm always there for you. You know how to reach me.
Gunnar - Gunnar replies to AcmeWhen you next check this thread know that I & Slim thank you. I haven't checked with Slim yet... He knows I can be a presumptuous SOB. I don't think he'll mind if I thank you with an invalid proxy.
I'm also going to say that we are always there for you. God is as well.
Alska,
Gunnar - Slim replies to Gunnar| 1 replyLooks like Gunnar never sleeps!
Here I am, early in the AM, getting ready to do what ... um ... older guys sometimes do early in the AM (and frequently throughout the day), and there is Gunnar, making sure the bad guys do not get too much of a toehold in 800notes, while the rest of us are snoozing.
Reminds me of my programming days ... work LONG shifts when necessary, and raid the candy and drink machines for Twinkies and Coke. Sugar and caffeine kept many a programmer active, long after the brain cells started to shut down due to lack of sleep (grin) - Gunnar replies to SlimYou know better than that brother! I just occasionally find myself in places that have clocks that aren't right. Don't ya' just hate it when that happens? I mean really! I know perfectly well that I'm the center of my universe. You would think that where I might be the people there would respect that..... No damn manners.
Alska Brother! Good evening...or morning...or whatever. Oh & BTW, stop telling about what us old guys do all night and day. We're gonna' start running out of those college girls.
Take Care,
Gunnar - BigAPORTFOLIO RECOVERY ASSOCIATES AKA PRA

Make sure you read how the NY AG spanked them bad on May 1, 2014 in the following BBB page.
BBB page with 1,308 complaints, a government action from the State of New York, and yet they get an A- rating? http://www.bbb.org/norfolk/business-reviews/d ... olk-va-51000164
Bizapedia has them as a Delaware Corporation started in 2007 as opposed to the information on the BBBB page that says 1996:

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Is passing yourself off as a processor server, the same as wanting to be a Police Officer. Ever had a process server call YOU and tell you they were going to drop in on you. ***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.
Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.
