I just got a call from 850 629 8216 left on my answering machine. Somehow also got my husband's cell phone and left the same message on his phone -- the woman said she was"special agent Ashley Greene' and that I had 24 hours to respond to a complaint someone made against me which could result in a restraining order..... There was a case number and I was suppose to call within 24 hours - or have my lawyer call. I did call the number and no one picked up.

I received a call from an unknown caller today at 1:39 pm. He left a message and introduced himself as Investigator Cooper. It is about a complaint filed against me pursuant to a claim and a certain affidavit number wherein I was named a respondent in a court action and must appear. He advised to forward the information to my attorney in that order  to show calls contains restraining order. Me and my attorney have 24-48 hours to oppose the matter. I typed this as I listen to the recording so everybody would have an idea about the exact words that these people are using.

Ask them how they can serve you from Pakistan? Tell them you went on the FBI site and found the note about the payday extortion scams.

    Hi,
On December 12,2011, Igot a phone call from this 850-629-8216 number. The lady left a message on my voice mail. She said her name was Stephanie Thomas and she is a specialist Investigator;she said I had a warrant out for my arrest and to contact them in 24-48 hrs. This is the second time someone from that company has contacted me.Ididnt return her phone call.

In January 2011, I applied for a pay day loan over the internet, in January and I never accepted any applications nor did I receive any money deposited into my account. Now because of that, I'm getting phone calls from these people.I hope some one can put a stop to them.

I just read the best response, just tell them you are outside the Talahasee shopping center where they are located (they are not there, they are in India/Pakistan) and ready to pick up your papers! Great idea! Another idea is to ask them where their lawyer is so you can "surrender"..HAHA have fun!!!

I visited that address - it is a Publix supermarket in the midst of a shopping center on the corner of Monroe and Tharpe streets in Tallahassee.  Next to the Publix is a UPS Store in suite 11.

My mom called me a little while ago. Attorney Stephanie Thomas, left mesg on her machine from a blocked # stating they had a restraining order on me and I had 24-48 hours to call them and resolve this matter. I haven't lived with my parents in 20 years. I called the # and they told me they had tried serving me at my home several times to no avail. That I had a court date I had to appear at since their client was suing me for money owed. I responded with well I'm a stay at home mom and rarely go anywhere so I don't know how they could of missed me. They stated they were hired by Bon Ton to collect on a credit card from 2007, that I still owed money on it when I closed my acct. I told them I paid it off in 2000 and I never heard of being able to close an account with an outstanding balance. She said the balance was 1300.00 for interest and fees, and I asked her how it could be that much when my acct was only for 300. I used to work for a collection agency and told her that she needed to send me verification of this debt because I was unfamiliar with it. She said, oh I'll have to contact my client and let them know. Weird thing was I was in the Bon Ton store when they called my mom, she was freaking out, scared to death that I was going to be arrested....these people are worse than scum.

i got the message of the affidavit number and something about a restraining order and a law suite. it was from a debt back in 2003 for Gateway computers, that doesn't appear on my credit report.  i too provided them with my debit card info being that they scared the crap out of me, however, after calming down, researched this info, canceled my debit card, changed my bank account info.  sooo happy to see others on here with their experience. thank you for giving me piece of mind. they called me back after the pymt was declined and said they will prosecute with intent to fraud. i proceeded to ask them questions about who the  person(s) were that worked  there that has the legal authorization to pursue a law suite. the rep gave me the same telephone number of 850-629-8216. the more i asked about the legal matters and who's authorized the representative hung up on me. i had a family member call me the same evening to say  they called my brother in whom i have not spoken to in 14 years and i don't even know where he lives!!!!

If you ever did business with a payday loan company, they are probably to blame.  I didn't receive these calls until AFTER I had agreed to payday loans.  Either they are selling this information or their websites are not secured and are being hacked into.

Contact the attorney general of your state, contact the FTC and contact the IC3, which is the White Collar Crime Division of the FBI.  Try to write down dates, time, names and numbers on these calls and add them to the reports as they happen, if you can.  That way they have a documented history of the harassment and abuse.

You might want to consider changing your home and cell phone numbers.  I know it's a pain, but may provide you with some peace.  If you are receiving these calls at work, alert your supervisor that you are getting these calls so they are aware of the harassment, too.  I have my co-workers transfer the calls to a bogus voice mail, so I can monitor the calls after wards to see if they are legit or not.

    Good Luck!

    *****CONSUMER ALERT*****

    Calling from phone number 850-629-8216.

Criminal debt collectors posing as FL lawyers with threats of arrest.

They have to be some of the dumbest debt collectors ever encountered or else they just took some fresh drugs.

Do you know it's a scam when they ask you for your AFFIDAVIT NUMBER?

Thet are likely NOT in FL, but using a VOIP system to spoof calls (federal violation)

Send us any information you may have or receive so we can warn others about these future prisoners who are destined to wear orange jumpsuits for many years.

This is a scam so bad that they must have trouble turning on their computers.

Let's put these jerks in jail where they belong.

They are not collectors, they are like a Nigerian scam, extortion fraud, calling from India or Pakistan. They prey on the weak minded, mentally ill and elderly. Just tell them you know its a scam and they will stop calling. If they do not believe you, give them this link.

My uncle received the same call...Special Investigator Ken Clark called with an affidavit number and i need to get in touch with my lawyer as there was a lawsuit and restraining order pending.  Took me 3 days to finally get someone to answer the phone.  I had already found this site and read all the complaints.  Filed a complaint through the FTC website and then called them.  Gave me the same run around but before they could even say anything I let them know I filed a complaint through the FTC and they hung up on me.  Sooooo  I called them for about 15 minutes straight to the point it got to where she was just answering the phone with yes MR. xxxxxx.  Then started threatening to send the police to my house for harassment.  These people are ridiculous.

I just got a call from these people today.  Stating that I was being sued by a credit card company that I still have an account with!!  I asked them to send me the court paperwork by mail and they hung up on me.  So I called my credit card company.  They looked into my whole history and told me I am a great customer and have never even been marked late on a payment!!  They did ask me for the information of the company that was claiming to represent them in a law suit, so I did.  They are now looking into the company.  Just for giggles, I called the company back and informed them that I contacted my credit card company and they stated this was a fraudulent claim and that they had no such legal action against me.  I also told them that the credit card company asked for their information, which I handed over- phone number, names, and case number.  I informed them that the credit card company was going to be looking into them, and I was immediately hung up on!! They deserved a little taste of their own medicine!

I suggest you keep calling, they are in India or Pakistan so they will not be calling any police to charge you with harassment keep calling, have fun! They will have less time scamming others. I repeat, they will never call the cops because they are in India or Pakistan and are just extortion scammers, check out the FBI link...  http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710 Surely if they are lawyers they must have a US address which you can confirm with the State Bar. Tell them you will surrender to their office, that will never happen because their "office" in the US is a mail box.
