- BleeeI also have a goodlife gym membership now, never had a problem, until now.
My BOYFRIEND got a phone call from these people asking for ME.
i have put his name and phone number down for my EMERGENCY CONTACT.
How the hell do these people get the nerve to call someone that has NOTHING to do with my contract?!
My phone number was there nice and clear. Are they BLIND?! im waiting for them to call me back, oh i will tell them !!!! - Bleee replies to studentthreaten them with your lawyer, tell them youll put their and goodlifes name in the news everywhere all over!!!
- Paralegal student replies to Law StudentI also had a similar call and thought it was a scam. I am in a paralegal program, and have decided to get good life off my back . Thanks for posting and saving me some investigative time as I was about to make some calls to find out if they were legit.
- DENNIS FEDRIGONI| 1 replyI wish to have my number removed from their calling list for i cancelled my membership with goodlife Fitness and owe them zero monies!

- ACgirl22I have been to University and it has nothing to do with general common sense. If you owe a company money, you owe a company money. I didn't realise I owed them 100$ from a previous membership when I was a student. They law office called me and told me I owed the money and I paid. I am still with Goodlife and they assured me this company is legitimate.
If you don't want to pay then you're the one messing up your credit rating and being stalked by a company that you DO owe money too.
I am not being a smart ass, but come' on... you owe money - don't say this business is fake because you're broke.- Caller: Peter, Stephan and Barristers

- FighterI got a call from the same "law" firm. I have yet to call them back but decided to look up the company instead. I was a member with GL for over a year under my sisters account. The year account was a gift to me from her. We decided we no longer wanted the account so well over a year she went in and canceled the account. The man there told her she was to get me to email the manager to confirm I wanted to cancel. I thought it was stupid considering it was her making payments, she should be able to cancel at any time. She came home and told me and I went to my computer and emailed to confirm. I got a few letters in the mail saying I owed them money. I tried to call to ask what they were regarding and was told my sister was the only one who would deal with the situation. Then why was I getting sent bills? My sister got on the phone and told them the process we went through to cancel. Now I get this call from the "law" office? I think not. I will fight this until the end.
To the person who says the BBB does nothing, that is not true. I had a situation with Primus canada requesting money for service I never recieved, I finally got fed up and filed a written compaint with the company. It was a long process but it worked becuase I was free of any charges against me. They actually work with you to solve the problem. I later got more bills from them and opened another ticket on the situation. The BBB got involved again and Primus was told they were to never contact me again and I have not gotten a message or letter since. I plan on sending a written complaint with the BBB on GL. I do not plan on paying a dime to the company. I encourage all of you who are having the same type of problem to file a compaint also, you will be surprised at the results. Companies like this need to stand pay for their bad actions. WE are the customer! Without us there is no GL!- Call type: Debt collector
- Fighter...Also, GL can or can not be accredited with the BBB, depends on the location. My local location is NOT registered. Currently my location is sitting at a B-. I'm going to help that get much lower!
- Ticked OffI also had this happen to me. After I cancelled my membership I continued to get bills from Goodlife. I refuse to pay it seeing as I have not been to the club in over a year. I got a call from these people asking me to call them back. I looked up the number bfor I called and sure enough! I looked them up under the BBB and they are not yet rated but listed on their website. I am going to go ahead and file a complaint to the "law" office aka collections agency for collection without cause. BBB will do something about it. I do not plan on paying a dime to the collections agency or Goodlife. Bad business practice needs to be known!

- FighterWell, my problem has been resolved. I called the number and they were extremely unprofessional. I told him that and he got all snarky at me saying I didn't what what I was talking about. He told me to call headoffice and I asked if thats all I had to do why was he involved. He raised his voice and said "BECAUSE THIS IS MY JOB" I asked him if it was a real law office because he was being so rude and he just argued with me. I told him never to call me ever again because I have no buisness wiht him and therefor he is making a telemarketing call and was not allowed to call me. I also told him I was filing a complaint wiht the BBB. He said "DO IT" and hung up.
I then called head office and demanded to speak to a manager. It was on voicemail so I had to wait. In the meantime my sister went to the location and told the guy it was his problem and he needed to fix it. He first tried to say he never got written information saying we wanted it canceled and went away to do something. When he came back he changed his story and said he remembered. He sent a letter to headoffice to fix the problem and remove the outstanding balance.
This morning I got a call back from GL headoffice. I told her the story and I also told her how rude the law office they hire is. Her response to that was "Ive heard that and borught it up to my supervisors and its gone no where" Apparently GL does not care how they treat their customers. She assured me that it will be removed and sorted out.
A little hard work pays off. I had no reason to give GL any money and I had no intentions to. If you owe them money then pay, but if you don't then sometimes all it takes is being presistant.
On another note, this law office can't take any action unless you get a letter in the mail. A phone call does not justify anything. There is no proof you took the call and was aware of money oweing. The lady at head office even said that as far is she is aware no credit is affected when this law office gets involved. So, thats proof its all to "Scare" you into paying.
Stand up for what you know is right and fight for your rights! Mine turned out prositive and my money was left alone.- Call type: Debt collector
- CC replies to Law Student| 1 replyI too had this number calling my parents number, she had no idea who they were and then googled the number and found that they were associated with GoodLife.
I had a contract with them to stop taking payments after a certain date as I moved and they continued to debit my account. I put a stop payment on my bank account and instead of getting in touch with me personally, they sent my file to this "lawyer's" office.
I called GoodLife and they had a copy of the contract stating exactly what I said and stated they were sorry for the misunderstading, there must have been a "mixup."
I will never, ever use GoodLife again, absolutely terrible treatment of customers.
F*** them. - BookStore PressThey just called here, with a very serious tone, asking if our Financial Officer was available. I asked for their name (Peter Stephen Baristers and Solicitors), their number, 800 969 4215 x 7016, and their location - Calgary, Alberta. I thanked them for the "information" and hung up, figuring if it was ligit, they'd call back. They didn't.
Since our company has never had any dealings with them, or Goodlife, or any Albertan company, and have no creditors for that matter, they have no business to call here. So, why are they, except to try to elicit money from us fraudulently.- Caller: Peter Stephen
- Silvana replies to KrisitnaI'm having almost the same issue with Good Life Fitness they ahve the worst customer service that I saw on my life. I tried to talk to them and is like a barrier speaking, Iam trying to tell them than Im going to have a surgery on my knee to stop the membership and they dont want it... it is terrible is the first and last time that I give one cent to Good Life Fitneess
- Hugh JassThey've called here a few times. Now I have refs whistle by the phone. Blew in a few times. Seems to have stopped.

- pissed offthe company has called me on and off for over 6months, they dont affect your credit, and when I tried to call them back I got a message saying the number cannot be dialed, this company is ridiculous, they treat ppl like crap, and at most I owe goodlife 1 month of fees, but yet this firm claims I owe over $300, its pointless and mundane.... personally, until they give me a proper price or it affects my credit, they arent going to hear from me
- missnielii didn't get a call from this number. the number was 8778669262. but it was Peter Stephan Barrister's and Solicitors. They are real. It's very likely that a big company like Goodlife would have there own lawyers.
If you don't trust them call Goodlife's head office 18003872524 and pay them off that way. It's not worth ruinin your credit.

- GIRL IN NIAGARA REGION replies to Law Student| 2 repliesI Had exactly the same problem with Stupid Goodlife Fitness.... I hope they spent more money in the stupid lawyer that what we owe to them!!! Goodlife Fitness sucks!!!!!! but judging by their profesionalism I would guess they were PC DISCOUNT LAWYER LMAO!!!!
I hate giving them my money too which it was only 40.00 bucks so Im guessing they spent more in the lawyer than what I actually owed to them!! what a way to stick it to the man!! LMAO!!!! - unbelievablei had a membership with goodlife, which i paid in full for the one year contract, even though i really did not go. i had a bad experience in the beginning with their personal fittness package i purchased. Even though i had a problem with the gym i honored my contact and paid in full.
I found that after the contract was up that they were still taking money out of my bank account. A friend who was a member of goodlife went down and talked to them. they stated it had to be in writing and that i would have to pay a month after they received letter. I sent a letter down with him but they said it had to be in person.
I let it go for way over a year and then i faxed a copy of a letter from me to goodlife from the bank when i put a stop payment on the 23.10 bi weekly payments to goodlife.
I received a request to pay three payments aproximately 76.00 and i threw it in the garbage. Then in another 3 weeks i got a request to pay aproximately 146.00 stating it would go to collections. i wrote a letter to goodlife letting them know i paid in full my contract and that i signed a one year not a life contract. that if they continued i would go to the better bussiness bureau and consumers affair, and if they decided to take to small claims court i would counter sue for the amount they took out of my account.
they answered by handing the account over to their collection firm at 1866-6164296 the law firm of Peter Stefhan to call back at 1866 619 4296 and give the reference number. i called and was told to wait and machine asked if i wanted to press 0 to leave an answer, a few seconds later i was given the answering machine.
i stated that i did not owe any money and that i would only respond to written information.
waiting to here back. this is absolutely stupid.
their was a recent market study on fittness places and i am going to review it shortly jan 13, 2011- Caller: 1-866-6164296 peter stefhon
- Chapplin replies to law student 2I understand your frustration with goodlife, as I have just went through a hassle with them. Long story short - it doesn't matter what letters you send, and keep. Goodlife is a poorly run company that will try to break you down by giving you the run around for a year - then when all else fails they will take you to collections to squeeze every last penny out of you they can. I can say at least the law firm tries to work with you. In the end invest in your local gyms who know the meaning of customer service. It might cost an extra ten dollars but totally worth it in the end. Goodlife=never again.
