She told them she didn't have a contract. I took the phone and told them she is 17 and can't sign a contact and DIDN"T sign one. The [***] on the phone said call the manager. So I called the gym and there isn't a manager at the moment so they gave me someone else. Good Life fitness continues to call to try to get money from my daughter, who signed up at 16 when they allowed somebody I do not know sign as her legal gaurdian. When the woman calls she presents herself as a lawyer, which she did admit she was not after my questioning her, I then explained that my daughter was under age when they signed her up, without my knowledge or permission, and that they should find the person that signed as her "legal gaurdian" if they want money for an early cancelation fee. When I found out that she had signed up, was never using it and that they continued to debit her account causing NSF charges to add up, I insisted she cancel and called to do so myself and to explain they had signed up a 16 year old without consent and they are lucky she did not hurt herself on their equipment.
Would put Good Life in the same category as used car and life insurance sales men, stay away at all costs!!!!

I had a Goodlife account and fulfilled my year. When the year came up, they told me I could either cancel or renew my membership. I went in and asked to cancel because I no longer wanted to spend the money on the membership. The person whom I spoke to put my account on hold, but now I''m banned from the mall it's in. I called and the person whom I spoke to about 2 months told me she would cancel my account for me because I'm unable to step on that property. Now I'm getting calls from that lawyers office, except they just said the name and the reason for calling was "An Important Business Opportunity". I googled and this forum came up. What the hell is that all about I'm pissed!

Hello everyone. I have read all the comments on this number, as I too was receiving phone calls. So I called Goodlife's head office at 1-800-387-2524, and they will accept payments through them if you feel that this "law firm" is not legitimate. I had concerns about them as well, and the best way to go about getting your issues resolved with payments is to call into the head office and express to them your concerns so that they can try to improve some of the issues.

The head office has informed me that you can make payments through credit card, or send cheque(s) to their office directly.

They give you zero notice that ur contract is up but  they continue to try and rape your bank account. Shady Business!!!!!  I wonder how many thousands of people go thru these issues.  Then this jack*ss is harassing for the money for months of unused facilities?!?!  Gimme a break!

IT sounds like this message is from a goodlife associate, so here goes,
Dear goodlife associate……..The people in this forum are trying to express their dismay at the boorish and scaring people practice that goodlife is involved directly in with the constant phone calls and strong arm tactics this falls just short of being robbery a lot of people on here have expressed how their daughters or sons are not even old enough to sign a legal binding contract and then there are the people who don’t have a contract and my favourite the people who have already cancelled , seems to me that goodlife is probably trying desperately to stay in business no matter what they have to do , this is a very poor stance to take , and you being a goodlife rep and posting that Goodlife is more than willing to take payments well that is just absurd , understand that you guys are no less than thieves literally the only difference is a thief may use a weapon. You are truly degenerates , when calling the store the only thing you get is usually a sympathetic manager that directs you to call the corporate office when you call the corporate office you get run-arounds and a lot of flak , you would get so many more customers and repeat business if you took a much better stance and cleaned up your business dealings , you are degenerates and should be put out of business.

Former Goodlife paid in full customer
What everyone on here needs to do is statr to post their stories on free websites like Facebook and Kajiji and Usedcalgary or whatever city your in will have a used?, but we should all be posting as in numbers we will be heard and will effectively be able to warn a lot of people to steer clear of these companies that have only their bottom line in mind and dont really care about the customer , we can be very effective if as many people as possible post warnings or their story or whatever negative experience you have had with them ...Power in numbers is where t is at....Go post people I have

I signed up for a membership and was never informed of a cancellation fee. Unfortunately, midway through I had to move back home where there is no gym. When I went into Goodlife the girl informed me that she could put a 6 month hold on my membership in which I would NOT make ANY payments (as at that time there was a possibility that I'd be moving back) and if I decided to cancel the membership down the line I'd be able to. Of course she had to speak to her manager to make sure a hold could be extented for that amount of time but promised to contact me within 24 hours. I never received any call or confirmation from Goodlife on the matter. So I put a stop payment on my bank account. Over four months have passed and I just receive a call informing me that I owe holding fees and membership fees.
The receptionist that I spoke with wasn't particularly rude or anything. But she initially said she was from Peter Stephan, P.C. Barristers but later stated she was from Goodlife's head office. switching from Peter Stephan to Goodlife prompted me to hang up.

The issue isn't just with the 'law firm', it's with the fact Goodlife is charging cancelled memberships,  taking advantage of their customers, and practicing very shady business ethics. These people shouldn't have to pay Goodlife in the first place. You're either missing the issue entirely or you work for Goodlife, I'm guessing the latter.

Hey, check this out...I just recieved a letter from the same "law firm" saying that I owe Goodlife over 350 dollars. The only reason they have my name is because my girlfriend worked there and as a "perk" they gave me a free-trial membership for like 3 months (only went once to allow my girlfriend practice
her schtic during her training, did not actually use the facilities). She does not work there anymore and now I owe goodlife over 350 dollars, for nothing. What a joke? So what do you guys think happened? I thought it was a free-trial for 3 months or something?

I joined GoodLife Fitness and had the monthly membership fees paid by credit card.  After being a member for over a year, I stopped going while I was dealing with a family death and moving.  During this time, my credit card expired and rather than simply call and ask me for the new card expiry date, they sent my account to collections.

They told me I had been sent a letter however with my move I  did not receive it...Good Life did not call and advise me of the situation.   The so-called law firm's registered voice mail message certainly does not sound legit and I ignored it.  After the second, I received a call from an actual person.  They advised me of the situation and told me that my membership had been cancelled.  I wanted to pay my outstanding balance but this "legal firm/collection agency" needed all my credit card info... and not just the expiry...so to ensure I was protected, I purchased a PREPAID mastercard and gave them that info.... I was totally NOT impressed and would NEVER recommend this fitness club to anyone.
