I called the number. They said I clicked a box indicating I wanted the free 30 trial. 1 year later I get charged $59. Good thing I caught that.they refunded it without a problem. They must know they are shady.

showed up on our bank statement too, haven't run in a 5k for 2 years.  called the number but it's just a recording and after 24 seconds cuts off, the support@active.com website doesn't work either.  now what?i tried hitting 2 and 1 and 0 for operator, but it didn't work

just dialing 18772284881 and hitting 0 works the fourth time calling got it cancelled easily...whew!

I've had the same issue. Active automatically signed me up for their active membership over a year ago and quietly withdrew funds from my account. They claim I signed up, but I have every active.com email since 2004 but they are only race confirmations and receipts. I have no confirmation or receipt showing I authorized them to charge me for a membership, they could not provide a confirmation, they couldn't even provide an account number or membership number but had charged me over $100.

If you are a racer and notice this charge, MAKE SURE you ask HOW MANY YEARS it's been going on so you get your FULL REFUND! Very important I asked otherwise they would have profited in their scam off me.

I understand but I've signed up for races through active.com since 2004. I have every email and race confirmation since May 7th, 2004. I have no email confirmation about any sort of trial membership, or that my account was being billed. They were unable to provide confirmation, they could not even provide me with an acct number, a member number and their even website listed me as "not an advantage member" with a "sign up now" link next to my name.

So clearly I was not a member BUT I have been charged for membership for 2 years.

They had been quietly charging me without my authorization or knowledge. Again, I have EVERY confirmation from active since 2004 and NOT ONE is about any sort of free trial or membership. I have nothing about any advantage active member. Nothing.

I did not sign up so if this doesn't constitute fraud, I'm not sure what does.

The FTC also recommended I file with my state's attorney general.

Same here, they just charged me $28.25 on 5/25/12 and again on 06/05/12!  This is outrageous!!!  And they seemed to be a great company!

Don't call your bank, call active.com at 877-228-488. What happens is, if you signed up for a race through them, they give you a 30 day trial, that if you don't cancel, they'll charge you 59.95. But if you call them and cancel it, they'll refund that money and cancel your "subscription." It's a hassle, but it's totally easy and worth it!

Me too. How annoying, I never click on subscriptions or offers to receive anything else. The cancellation process was pretty easy, but what sneaky tactics they use! ugh!

college student with no money, guess what not only did they charge me i created an overdraft fee with my bank and I have no money for gas for the rest of the week... I have no idea how they got my card info!!!!  I do charity walks for animals, if thats how they got my info then shame on them!!!!! I was doing somethign good and raising money!

I never heard of this company a day in my life. Randomly got charged $26 at like 12:00am. I never signed up for a damn race, or any "activity". I want my money back by tommorow morning !

Wow and now I check my card and the money is back without me even making a call. Scary to think
This company has my banking information and are able to charge me whenever they please and I know nothing about them. Now I have to pay even more attention to my recent transactions on my chase card.

i also recieved a bill of 59;95   i cancellled my card and will call them tomorrow....they are committing fraud....i want them prosecuted....

i agree Kathy k...this was no mistake ...i never checked any boxes for free memberships at any time...im no dummy and am pissed that i had to cancel my card...what a hassle...

With all these complaints, how is it that they get by with this. Just think about all the people that do not check their account and this change gets through. It is nothing but a scam!!!
Has anyone reported this to the BBB? These people are making, I should say steeling thousands of dollars from the poor people and I would say most likly the old. Do we want this to go on? Let's take the time and report this!!!!!!!

I also noticed 2 charges for $59.99. What a scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Called 1-877-228-4881 long wait, but the lady was very nice about the refund. She explained what happened and told me how to avoid it on the next registration.
