- air horn replies to M Armstrong| 1 replyI can call you whenever I want, as much as I want and you
cant stop me...
to which I would have said Go ahead, but you will get the
AIR HORN every time, see how you like that. - Kathy Kounselor replies to RowanRI'm an attorney at law who recently became the victim of 'KCI'. Here's the deal: Anyone ever contacted by an entity purporting to be a 'Collection Agency' need NEVER speak with them at all. Simply state (pleasantly): 'I'm invoking the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I don't wish to be contacted by you by phone. Please send whatever paperwork you have to my address___________.'.
If the party continues to talk, ask for a Supervisor. Repeat same to them.
The INSTANT the FDCPA is invoked, federal law mandates that they 'cease and desist' contacting you by phone.
By the way: It never hurts to have a recording machine plugged in and at the ready (Kansas is a one-party consent state which means that only one party to a conversation need consent to the taping of a call). But of course, that may be an attorney-thing.
These companies are indeed bottom feeders, and even if you have some indebtedness the FDCPA mandates that you have the right to be free of a debt-collector's intrusion into your home. Avail yourself of it! - bill replies to Alex| 6 repliesKci is a collection agency maily dealing with medical bill they are relentless i had 57 such messages on my machine after i got back from vacation called em to find ot what the hell found out i had a past bill balance on a chest x-ray cause insurance did not cover it all for 11.25

- JDFor past two weeks have received calls every day from both 913-307-9016 (KCI) and 913-825-3274 (Kansas Counselors.) When I answer it is a recorded female voice that starts with: "Hi, how you doin'. We need to hear from you . . . " at which point I hang up. I have seen my credit report quite recently, and know that I have no outstanding debts that are past due in any way. I googled the phone numbers and that is how I found this site. They don't ask for any specific person. I am a 58-year-old widow living on a fixed income. I have no idea why these people are calling me and don't know how to stop these calls. Any help would be appreciated.

- JDUPDATE: See post above. After reading these posts, and writing my own, I got curious and I called one of the phone numbers. A "Mr. Smith" answered, and asked me my name. I asked what company I had called, and he said Kansas Counselors. I never did give him my name. I just asked him why I was getting so many recorded phone calls from his company, and told him I had no outstanding debts and wanted the calls to stop. He asked for my phone number so he could look it up, so I gave it to him. He was looking for my "significant other," who died over a year ago. I told him that, and interestingly, the debt was from his doctor's office. I told Mr. Smith that I had received a notice from Kansas Counselors addressed to my SO and had mailed them a copy of the death certificate. He said yes, they just received it today. I told him to look at the who signed the death certificate: it was signed by his doctor, whose office had turned the bill over to collections. Go figure! "Mr. Smith" said he would remove my number from their records. Glad that's over.

- KSgirl| 1 replyWe have received two calls from KCI? regarding personal business of an young employee at our office who unexpectedly passed away in January. Everytime they call it stops our heart to hear them ask for his name. Cant they show some compassion and take him off their list. I would think once we told them he had passed away they would stop calling, but they must just think we are lying because they called again today. Why would we lie about something like that.
- DocThey have called my teenage son's cell phone about a hundred times. Leaves the same message, but no details. We haven't and won't call them back.

- The ReceptionistHere at our office, we get calls CONSTANTLY from KS Counselors. They always ask for someone we've never heard of. When we try to tell them that we get calls from them every week, they hang up on us.

- Lindsey replies to hinoteku| 1 replyI have had the same number for 6 years now. I've been receiving calls for a Brenda. I have also called and informed them that I am not the "Brenda" they are looking for and also told them my name. Tina said, " Whatever. We'll just take your number off the list then." and then hung up. The next day I received a message from the same number and this time it was "Phillip". "Hey brenda this is phillip. I really need to talk to you please call me back" Acting like a long time friend or something.

- B.S. Detector replies to Thomas| 1 replyAnother obvious fake report posted by the debt collector posing as a consumer.
"Thomas", you and your buddies at KCI will have to do better than this. - jtye01Glad you all put this on here.
Got the same call.. Caller ID and call back were completely different numbers. Sounded very personal and they really need to talk with me.. call me back.. talk to you soon...
I called with *67 in front of my number so the caller ID didn't go through. Asked what the urgent message was. He asked who I was. I said you called me with an urgent message. Don't you know who you called with an urgent message? (playing dumb of course. I do it well.)
Anyway - wanted my number - asked why he needed my number to give me urgent message.
Tired of businesses playing games with people and phone games.
I'll tell you what.. I kept my home phone ONLY for telemarketters. I never answer it. anyone who knows me calls my cell.
Anyone who leaves a message on home phone that sounds legit or I know the business and requested something from them I call back. If it's at all vague (DELETE)...
Again thanks to those who posted because I knew what I was getting into before I dialed. Normally I wouldn't bother calling back but I was in a mood. You understand..- Caller: kci

- Jessica| 1 replyI just received the strangest call from KCI and it left me with my heart pounding.
As everyone else I have been harassed by these people for a long time.
Just now I answered the phone and an woman, kind of mumbling, asked for me and mispronounced my last name. I said hold on, looked at the caller ID again and thought it was my sons school. I said "This is her" and the woman said "please hold for Ashly". I was on hold for just ten seconds before she spoke again, sounding a little worried. She said "The line isn't available right now, I'll give you our direct line to call back". I asked what's going on, she said she's from KCI and... I cut her off. Told her this is ridiculous and she scared me.
How can they DO this to people!? I don't care if I owe $30 to some business, they should not be able to frighten me like that. I don't care if they're rude, but never frightening me like that was completely uncalled for! I thought a family member was in the hospital or in jail, something, or my son (in kindergarten) was hurt at school! I'm so MAD!- Caller: KCI

- VThey keep calling my home phone looking for the person who had my phone number 5 years ago. I've told them that - several times. Each time, they say they will take care of it. It works for about a week then I'll get a call again.
It's very irritating. I think I'll use the above address to write them a nice little letter- Caller: KCI

- Len replies to AlexYeah I've been reading about these "people" what they do is hire wellfare moms who need a job in order to keep collecting government checks. Indeed they are very unprofessional however they can really mess up your credit. What we all need to do is log reports with the Federal Trade Commission FTC.
What a world we live in where in as telemarketers feel empowered! This is why most companies have moved their call centers overseas. However I've been calling them *67 and giving them the same treatment. The management is even more rude than the peons they have working for them. Contact the FTC and join a credit watch service because they WILL screw up your good credit standing. Good Luck - annoyed personThese people call me constantly. I just recieved a call from a "Vicki" " I have called several times and you have NOT called me back please call me back it is an emergency". These people are very rude on the voicemails and I have tried to call them back several times but no one ever answers when I do. I just want them to leave me alone or tell me what they want. They also dont need to be telling people it is an "emergency" if it is not.
