I find it hard to believe that a company like this can continue to operate in Canada for years without the collusion of the Canadian Bar Associations and various police, prosecution, and regulatory agencies. Anyone want to bet that they and their principals are major contributors to the Harper Conservative party ?

I would like to get on board with suing them for the fact that I do not want this to happen to any other poor people.  Feel free to email me at karenperusini@msn.com.

Get put of it now they will take your money not work or contact your creditors on your behalf and tell you that you don't have enough money in your bank account for them to contact them.  Yesterday they asked me to burrow 20,000. 00 and put in my account.

This is a fraud I have been in the program for 6 mths and not one of my creditors have been contacted and now I am in the process of being sued which brought light to my situation.  They have 6000.00 of my money I am 7 mths behind on any payment and they asked that I get 20000.00 in my bank account to pay of my creditors ASAP.  I canceled my contract and bank account contacted my creditors myself and came up with a better solution then this.  They need to be shut down and I plan on pursuing it.  Want to join me.  We are Canadians we must stick together.

Silverthorne is the same scam being run by Cockburn and Associates Debt Settlement.
I was stupid enough to sign up with them in Oct 2012 after a MVA>  I paid them over $11111.00 and they paid one Creditor Capital One $350.00
I had all of my assets repossed in June 3014, my creditors contacted them numerous times and never had any calls returned and as a result I've had to file for bankruptcy.
If the $700-$1050 a month was going to a real debt settlement/trustee in bankruptcy since Oct 2012 I would be debt free and no bankruptcy/
I am now trying to recoup my money.
DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THESE SCAMMERS I HAVE A PROOF OF MY ACCOUNT FROM THEM AND IF YOU EMAIL ME I WILL HAPPILY SHARE IT WITH YOU

I joined them in September 2011.  They were Silverthorn and Lupolover then.  I asked every single question possible.  They assured me numerous times that this debt would all be paid off by March 2015.  I had 5 credit cards to be dealt with.  As of August 2014, they are just beginning to workon the 3rd one.  It will be paid off on March 2015.  That means I will still have 2 debts not even looked after.  Every 5 minutes they change your client rep.  Or maybe its just mine, cause I am all over their lazy [***].  DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.  I paid off my one account in Febuary, and in August had still not recieved any confirmation that it was paid off, so I asked the client rep from cockburn ass. to call them and get this taken care of.  Come to find out, they paid someone elses account.  They are "looking into it"!  They better get their [***] together, or they will be looking into my foot up their ass!!!  They take 50%of your monthly payment, they do nothing, especially after they have gotten their money.  I make sure I deal with these lying [***] by email.  That way I have proof everytime they try to  [***] me.  This is the worst thing I have ever done.  Do not trust these lying, backstabbing pieces of [***].  Its a scam!!!

UCC (specifically the Statute of Frauds section) states that any contract that cannot be completed within one year after the contract's formation must be in writing.  All the terms of your agreement should have been spelled out and you should have read and understood them before you signed the contract.  If they did not give you this agreement in writing and you did not sign it, then they have violated the law.  If the agreement states something different from what they are doing then they have violated the contract.  I personally would go see a consumer lawyer at this point and see what your options are before you end up paying this company a ton of money for nothing.  By the way you could have negotiated a deal with the credit card companies on your own and not have to pay any extra money.  Either way, any negotiated settlement less than the full amount will result in the credit card companies sending you a 1099-C showing the amount written off as income on which you will owe taxes.

I sign up an agreement with the cockburn and assoiciates  last Aug.  by email but I have a bad feeling about them so I decided to cancell my agreement I send it to them a week after I sign the contract by register mail and called them after 3 days they said they didn't get my mail yet but  when I looked at in my tracking # they already recieve it thursday 10:44 am and I was talking to them @ 12:30. they are liars they already take my first payment from my account they should not take any money from me because they alredy recieved my cancellations and they said It will not cost me.They said they gonna email me if they recieve the letters. But still waiting from them the confirmation. Hope God will not funished you for all sin cockburn and associate, all of you representative are rude, your not helping people get out from the debt your adding more problem to them, your worst than all the creditors, its better to deal with them than to your people.

I agree with you Eric (though I have had a little trepidation at times). I went through exactly what you just wrote. I have been in the program for 8 months and have been able to put a little extra in the trust account. Two of the four creditors I named in the program have been paid and the credit rating agencies have been contacted as to the settlement of these debts. The reps make it very clear that it will take time and the faster you can get money to the trust account the better. So far I am also on track to repaying my creditors about 45% of the original debt.

It's always soothing when shills are "on track to" agreeing with themselves. I'm glad it's clarified for us that customers are expected to pay huge amounts upfront in a gods-awful hurry and then wait indefinitely for vaguely promised results while assuming all the risks of failure. A casino gives better odds and doesn't make patrons sign a contract at the door.

I used to work for this company a couple of years ago. I'll tell you this much, IT DAMN SURE WASNT IN CANADA. Its in ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS NJ. Michael Lupolover is a real person. Even thought he doesnt care anout what goes on in his company or with his clients. I mean for Christ Sakes he comes in HUNGOVER DAMN NEAR EVERYDAY. The supervisors told us in training to out on a CANADIAN ACCENT and say we were located in Kitchener. As far as the contracts go we weren't supposed to call the clients back for five days so they're already locked into their contract....Real shady isn't it!!!! These people in upper management and also Lupolover himself are clowns trying to make a fast buck off of hard working canadians with debt trouble. I've never felt so relieved to quit a job like this. I mean they dont care who they rip off grandmas, granddads....army vets its just plain sickening!!!!!!! I hope that place burns to the GROUND!!!!
