They are a real DC who buys outdated and often nonexistent debt for pennies on the dollar.  They are well known in these pages and not in a good way as the following will indicate.  Refusing to send you a written verification is a violation of Federal law.  Read the following, especially the last part, and file complaints at the provided links:

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

They've started calling again about debt that isn't mine, from 3 years ago. Hell, I've even read that even if the debt was legit, it's legit with a different company so if you do owe it, you don't owe anything to the collector by law (no contract).

Eh, you put em on a blocklist or set their ringtone to silent. Done and done.

Just got a call the other day, they didn't leave a message.  For years, I've been getting collection letters from different agencies until it ended up with Portfolio Recovery, for a bill that is now way beyond the statute of limitations.  Recently I started getting collectiion letters from them (again), but this time at the bottom of the letter, after the "you have 30 days to dispute" summary - it states this - "Because of the age of your debt, we will not sue you for it and we will not report it to any credit reporting agency"

I thought debt collectors were forbidden to use cell phone numbers, call before 8am , after 8pm, etc.   They are invaders to our homes, our jobs.

Called me, I picked it up but did not say anything- SHE called me by first name, like we were friends!  No, if you don't know me call me MISTER!

They are calling me even on my work phone i don't know how they got that number

These are bottom feeders! Just ignore them if you can. I block them on my phone. After the statue of limitations runs out no one can sue for garnishments etc. If the debt could still be collected they would have found a way! Port

Scumbags when will they learn I never answer the phone with strange numbers.

They use dozens of different #'s. I just don't answer #'s I don't know. They will never leave a msg.. One time I did answer, they tried to talk tough to me I told them to [***] off and die then hung up. They try to collect on uncollectable debts. They only stay in business because of the fools that fall for their [***] and send them money.

Not only do they use different numbers, they also go by different names or work in tandem with other bottom feeders.

866-519-8330: So if this is Portfolio Recovery, they are in so much trouble, I have filed Bankruptcy and all the letters have been sent so they got one, turning over to my lawyer to rip them a new one! And the fact they call 05/20/2015 and the case was filed 02/28/2015 and all letters went out so they definitely in trouble!  I Love It!
