Yes , another from Portfolio Recovery. They actually left a message today saying their home office was in Virginia even though the ID said Texas. But an FYI, the "statute of limitations" (varies by state) only applies to the original debtor being able to sue and take you to court. There is no limit or statute on junk debt buyers or anyone attempting collection. They can call you forever, they just can't take you to court... UNLESS you agree to start sending them money. Then the limitations reset and they're able to sue if you don't pay up.  Also, there's no statute of limitations on them hammering your credit report either.

Here's how I handle these bozos and others like them: I set up a google number. Then, I use my landline account to forward calls from that number. This way my main line never rings and they think they're reaching me. lol

got a call from 817 500-4360-wouldn't tell me what they wanted other than personal business. Told them not to call back. I have "personal" business in my life but don't call others looking for someone that doesn't live there stating "personal" business.

Have been receiving repeated calls from this number. No message left.

PRA called today at 8:15 am !! They dont even talk.....they are breaking the law and dont even pay the fines someone should be after them to collect !!!!

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

He probably has an old medical bill ,that would have been paid by a fund raiser if it hadn't been turned over to a collection agency in the 1st place, they were told have the hospital billing dept call and they will get paid, and now it has been 12 years ,2 years past the statute of limitation, it is a dead debt, it is no more, it does not exist , and portfolio recovery calls and asks for Wayne , well I will answer and say Wayne's dead stop calling, you buzzard vultures

I have a ton of fun with these idiots.  When they call I tell them I am very interested in talking with them, but I have Turrett's Syndrome and I am prone to swear uncontrollably at times.  When they start to talk I yell at them some obscenity about their lack of parentage. . . then apologize all over myself and ask them to continue. . . As soon as they start talking again. . . off I go again. . . . . this time about what a [***] they are.  then again apologize all over again. . . . as soon as they begin talking again. . . I start again. . . . over and over until they get disgusted and hang up on me. . . . . Best part is before they hang up I start laughing histerically at them.

Portfolio Recovery is the worst - do not try to reason with them - do not answer - block calls - Hang up.

For those of you that do owe a debt DO NOT PAY Portfolio Recovery - treat them the same way they treat others - F - them.

If you receive a call from this number do not believe anything they say and do not give them any information. They have called our house several times asking for a minor. They want to verify DOB, address, and SS#. When they called and I advised them that they are asking for a minor and therefore would need to talk to me they refused to give out any information and insisted that they needed to talk to him. When I refused, they hung up. Angry, I called back and asked to speak to the supervisor. The "supervisor" whom refused to give his name and would only identify himself as a floor manager for Portfolio Recovery System. He again refused to discuss the "debt" issue that they were calling about with me. When I yet again explained that his company was trying to contact a minor he tried to convince me that it did not matter and that in order to discuss the situation he would have to speak with my son.

I have a sneaking suspension that the company is not even a debt collector but someone phishing for information. Well they are not going to get any information from us.

I have been getting numerous calls from these people, each from a different number and never leaving any messages on my voice mail.  This has been going on for some time, but only recently picked up in activity.

I blocked the first few numbers, but it is pretty obviously a waste of time because they have too many numbers they use (or are spoofing numbers).

I have a very high credit rating because I pay all of my bills on time every time.  I pay my credit cards completely prior to its due date every month... i.e., I maintain a zero balance on all cards.  I have a very common name (similar to 'John Smith') and have had problems in the past with debt collectors calling me about other people's debt.  I used to pick up or return calls when I was young, but found that they nearly always used it as an opportunity to phish for personal information.

I guess they use too many numbers to keep blocking them... it will eventually use up the rest of my 250 blocked numbers list.  I will need to go back to using a boat (fog) horn or pre-recorded FAX squeal blasted in their ears when they call me.  Its sad that our government and laws are so ball-less that there is not much we can do to stop these harassing calls.

These people have called numerous times. I finally called one of the numbers back the person they were looking for has been dead for 5 years. Told them so and gave them a number to call. I know I made a mistake . They are [***].  Don"t know what else to do with them.?
