- Life CoachReceived a call from 513-900-5280 - caller said he was calling about fraudulent charges on my credit card. He wanted me to verify my card no. in specific the security digits from my card.
- Caller: Bank
- Betty replies to Lisa| 4 repliesPeople, this is legit. It is a fraud detecting company from 5/3 bank. Every time there is a suspicious action on your card, they will call to verify if it is you or not. It happened to me and I was sceptic whether to answer or not. I am glad I did because my card had been hacked and they put a stop to it. I, too, was wondering if it was legit, so I called the customer service on the card and it was true. Hope this helps?
- Fraud Squad| 1 replyPart of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions. Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.
The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people. There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

- RJ-RadioWavez replies to BettyThe the problem is that there are many operations that spoof their caller id information in an effort to trick people. At this day and age, I do not believe it is worth taking a chance. Instead they should call the numbers listed on the 5/3 web page.
- RJ-RadioWavez replies to Fraud SquadEven if the number belongs to a legitimate bank, it does not mean that they are receiving a legitimate calls.
- JGot a message telling me to call this #, and a reference #, something wrong with my 5/3 card...I was on hold for almost a half hr and was skeptical, did not provide card # when asked, only ref#, but did give my name and last 4 soc digits, seemed legit but after felt stupid and called my bank, they confirmed it was totally legit and a company they work with....phew....
- mdossLegit. It's 5/3 Bank Fraud protection. I called them back and they said they were VANTIV fraud protection. I did not give them any info other than what I had to and hung up and called the number on back of my debit card and they routed me to the VANTIV number that called my cell in the first place. I checked my acct online and I had 5 fraudulent charges from a store in Newark, NJ. I don't live anywhere near the state of NJ. Call them!!
- Caller: VANTIV
- Scott| 1 replyI got a call from 513-900-5280 last night, young boy telling me about fraud charges on my VISA, and telling me to call back on the 800-238-8604.
I did not call back. This morning went to my bank, yes it was fraud! Well, my guess is these people are real! - Deke replies to ScottI got the same call and called the number on my MC and sure enough they had blocked three different charges.
one was over $600 that was 300 miles away and two were 1400 miles away.
Only used the card 3 times this year so I knew the most likley suspect business. Called them and let them know
the situation.
Also called Vantiv and let them know I had taken care of it and thanked them. - MadDog| 1 replyGot a call to my home phone from (513) 900-5280 with CallerID of VANTIV. I called the ring back number (877) 230-3179 and the automated system didn't identify the company name. I hung up and called my bank that they referenced - no problems with my card. There is a company called Vantiv that is a real credit card processor, but they do not call asking for personal information. This is just a slightly more sophisticated phishing scheme. Run away!
- MadDog replies to MadDogI am updating my earlier post. When I called the bank, they saw no issue with my account, but a transaction was just denied (6 hours later). I called the bank again, and they confirmed that a restriction was put on my account, and that I needed to verify a charge. It turns out Vantiv knew before the bank. I can't delete my earlier comment, so I hope this helps set it straight.
- Julie replies to Betty| 1 replyIt is legit. They just called me tonight and my debit card was hit twice today. They put a freeze on my card for me and I didn't have to give them ANY account details. They are 5/3 bank. Thank God they contacted me!
- Ask replies to JulieWell, if it's so legit, why are they calling me for info, I don't have a 5/3 account!!!!!! And nobody around me does either!!!!
- TsDefinitely legit. Just received a call from here but didn't answer. Came and found out it was questionable, so called my bank and this is legit fraud department #.
Bank verified my card # was stolen. Over $550.00 was charged!!! Call your bank when you get a call from this #. This is NOT A SCAM # !!!- Caller: Vantiv
- BBusted| 1 replyThis white Anglo Saxon person left a voicemail stating that "...block on your debit card until you call to remove..." I contacted my TEXAS banks and was informed this was not a legitimate call, not to call them back, and never give out information about my debit card. This was reported to CFPB. Saw a note about 5/3Bank. WTF is a 5/3 Bank? A fake bank? I only bank in my State, with non-mortgaged backed banks. This is a complete and total sham.
- Caller: Card Fraud Protection
- BBusted replies to BBustedThe phone # they asked me to call back was 800.889.5280
- JWThey called and left a voicemail with a verification number. The voicemail told me to call a different number back and when I did it was flagstar bank verifying a recent debit purchase. It was automated and I just had to verify the use of my card. This is a legitimate call. I do not understand why so many people are calling it a scam. I did not have to give any personal information and they told me how the card was used and they were right because I used it the day before. No scammer is going to know that.
- Caller: Flagstar Fraud Detection Agency
- CT| 1 replyLegitimate card fraud protection. I did call back, was on hold for 20 minutes however. I dropped the call and called my bank directly and it was on hold for out of pattern activity.
- Caller: Card Fraud Detection
- Scambuster replies to CTLooks like another shill for the fraud here again!!
- Jeff replies to BettyBEWARE! My experience was the opposite. I called them back and they started asking for personal information (last 4 of social), name as it appears on card, etc. I asked them how I could know that they aren't scammers and they said they worked on behalf of my Bank and gave me my last 4 digits of my credit card number. They told me I could call my bank and get info then. I called my bank and they had never heard of the company and went through transactions with me one by one. No suspicious activity and no notes on the account.
My suggestion is to play it safe and never return phone calls about credit cards. Always call the # on the back of your card if you have questions or the bank itself.
