- KarenGot a phone call today. It was from the same phone number stated above. I have had these phone calls before but they are getting better at the scam. Caller ID says IRS for example (although you can't call the nr back because it is 'discontinued'.) They give a call back nr and case nr.
I called back just out of curiosity and got put on hold. The american voices and the way it is executed (the music, the press 1 for English and a Spanish voice saying to press 2 for Spanish) makes it sound very legit. Law enforcement should do something about this because I can imagine people falling for this scam.- Caller: "IRS"
- yomo replies to truththank you very much this was very helpful, because the message they left me was stressing me out.
- Egertha BrailsfordReceived a call June 19th at 10:23 a.m. with a reference No to call by the end of the day. (IRS)

- Mr C replies to bbAnyone who calls from this number is a SCAMMER. End of story. No exceptions.
Quit spreading misinformation.
Too many Shills on this thread... - PeggyMessage said this was an automated service. Gave me my case number and told me I had to call before the close of business day. The first part of the message was cut off so I don't know who it was from.
- Dree replies to MaryI received a call today from this number. They are still in business.
- PamMessage said it was the IRS, gave case number and call back number 8779683413. Called the number that called me and got recording that number not in service. Another IRS scam.
- LizGot a call on my work phone from the same number telling me to call 1-877-968-3413. caller id said irs. gave ref number. so i called just to see. the recording seems quiet legit but the recording telling me to call, very broken and. I personally owe no taxes and being that it is calling my job, a call center, just helps to prove how legit this is. i did call just out of curiosity. was on hold for almost 5 min. hung up as i got better things to do like take a nap at work.
This is a scam. Anyone who posted otherwise either works with the scammers or is a fool.- Caller: NOT the 'IRS'

- RJ replies to max| 1 replySame here - when I called the IRS they confirmed it was in fact them trying to reach me before the case was escalated to collections. Apparently I had an issue back in 2009 I was not even aware of. I too am so glad I called them back. No I am not them, and all I can do is share my experience - but I am now cleared up and free of any IRS issues. It never hurts to follow up on something that could be so very important.
- Not a foolI received a recorded message from this phone number: 1-716-206-3218 at 9:15 am on Tuesday, September 8th 2015. The message is transcribed as follows:
“This is an informational call from the Internal Revenue Service about federal tax deposits. Nearly 9 out of every 10 businesses make their Federal Tax Deposit and File Form 941 Employers Quarterly Federal Tax Return on time each quarter. It is important your business comply with the law in order to avoid interest and penalties of as much as 15 percent. For more information regarding your employment tax obligation please review publication 3151A The ABCs of Federal Tax Deposits online at www.irs.gov. Again, this in an informational call from the Internal Revenue Service about federal tax deposits.” The message then repeats.
I have looked up the phone number here to discover others have reported it usually has a person at the other end pretending to be from the IRS. My belief is this recording is an attempt to condition me to see this number as a valid IRS phone number. I’m not that stupid. I have owned a business for the last 18 years and I have had tax troubles during the course of that time. I have NEVER had an IRS agent call me until after I established a relationship with a particular office or individual after they sent me a certified letter stating an Intent to Levy. The IRS doesn't call you. They mail you letters, each more demanding than the last. If you don't answer them, they will indeed clean out all the bank accounts with the social security number on record for the debt they're trying to collect attached to them. Don't mess with the IRS but don't believe these stupid calls. NEVER call the number these idiots leave for you to call. Call the number on the irs.gov website. It's the only way to be sure.- Caller: Scam/IRS
- CWG40Clear scam attempt. IRS does not initiate contact by phone.
But it's not clear what the scammers intend to get. This scam is directed to employers who are required to deduct certain amounts from the wages of their employees, using Form 941 and pay them in a quarterly basis to IRS. Been several reports of this scam on 800notes. Perhaps they are trying to get copies of the forms.
I'm an Enrolled Agent (inactive) with the IRS. The Form 941 requires EFT in order to pay the quarterly amounts withheld from employees. See: http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc757.html Maybe they are trying to get EFT information too.
My thinking is that somehow the scammers are trying to get EFT payments redirected to them.
It's a blatant scam. I've return calls to these scam numbers and you get an American-sounding person who asks you to leave a message. I think this is a domestic group of scammers. I don't know how they expect to get away with this.- Caller: Informational post
- ParawhitGot the same call all a scam
- Pete GAgain these [***] are trying to play games. Saying they are from the IRS when they are not. I have a IRS account number and it only has 10 number and my quarterly payments are up to date.

- jmReceived a call today they gave a case reference # which I did not take down. The IRS does not make phone calls. I think the scammers are looking for your SS# ( give it to anyone you do not know), to see if owe IRS any money or stealing you tax refund.
- Caller: IRS
- EX IRSImpersonation of an IRS Agent/Officer is a violation of Title 18, US Code, Section 912. Report these calls to the Office of the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration in your area. It is not the IRS that is calling.
- tc replies to RJBull - this is a scam and RJ is one too. I called and they wanted my Social Security number and to know enough information that if I was stupid enough to give it to them they could file a fraud tax return for me next year. Yahoo! Hang up and block their number. If you did not hear from the IRS via certified mail, you did not hear from the IRS.
- Anon1I called the IRS and spoke with a representative today as I am in a payment arrangement with them and I wanted to find out directly from the IRS what the deal is. This is a scam, the IRS DOES NOT have an "877" number. The IRS requests that people who receive these calls file a complaint and including the number that appeared on our telephone as well as the number this scam artist wants us to call back.
- Call type: Prank
- ctI received this same call leaving the message to call the 877 number. If all of these reports are being made and they have been reported, i'm wondering why this is still being allowed to go on for more than 3 years. Looking at these posts that date back to March of 2012, I'm sure there are more than a few that were victims of this scam. Is there no one to find these criminals?
