Eviidently these folks don't abide by the law.  What part of "DO NOT CALL" list do they not understand.  I believe there is a fine if they violate this law.

These goons have been hitting citizens with bogus phone calls -- judging from the history of reports here at 800notes -- since 2007!

You are responsible for your own basic defense. Check your Caller ID. If you see a name and/or number (or no number at all) that you recognize, do not pick up the call. If by some chance, you do pick up the call, and a voice tells you to press a number, do not press anything. Hang up. Then report the call to the FCC.gov and/or the FTC.gov. And also file a report here at 800notes and/or any one of a number of similar complaint sites.

They don't care my son is Autistic and they some how got hima a credit card that now I have to pay!!!

HSBC also entered into a business agreement that they would not defraud their investors.  Criminal acts were performed....and yet no one went to jail.  Now they will pay for their criminal acts with the money they collect from decent, ordinary people.  Probably will jack up fees and interest rates.  

Their has been no sign of contrition on their part.  To them, the felony was just a business deal.

If you borrowed money from an uncle...and found out he was using it to produce child pornography, would you continue to send him checks?  

Paying them back is supporting a criminal enterprise.

I keep receiving several calls per day from 18008848429.  I do not have an account with "whoever they are", and the message asked me to give them my full account number.

HSBC is a criminal organization, fined 1.9 billion dollars, and yet no one went to jail.  

If you owed someone money, and found out they were producing child pornography, would you still feel morally obligated to pay him back?

They did not only defraud the US government; they defrauded the people doing business with them.  

Everybody should stop paying their debt to them and let them go out of business.  Otherwise, you'll just be either funding the next criminal activity they scheme up, or helping them pay their 1.9 billion dollar fine.

Agreed.  I'm no lawyer, but there has to be a presumption that if a company is doing business in the United States, they have to be in compliance with federal and state laws.  Anybody who KNOWINGLY supports a criminal organization abets said organization.  

Screw HSBC; if our government doesn't have the balls to do the right thing (put them all in jail and put them out of business), then we need to.  It is mind blowing that they are allowed to continue to do business.  When we find a candy store that sells illegal drugs, do we just fine the owners (innocent stock holders, by the way), and then let them open up the next day? They should be forced to liquidate with all assets distributed to stockholders, EXCEPT those principals who were involved in the crime.  They should go to jail.

Stop supporting them.  Although I owe very little to them (less than 1,000), I just mailed back my payment stub, with no check, but a hand written note stating with the following:  To whom it may concern:  I cannot continue to make payments.  Your actions have made me unknowingly complicit in an illegal action.  Because it was unknowing, I may be considered to be innocent of any crime or misdemeanor.  However, the following Penal Law, to which we are subject, would make my actions illegal:Penal Law - All persons concerned in the commission of a crime, whether it be felony or misdemeanor, and whether they directly commit the act constituting the offense, or aid and abet in its commission, or, not being present, have advised and encouraged its commission, and all persons counseling, advising, or encouraging children under the age of fourteen years, or persons who are mentally incapacitated, to commit any crime, or who, by fraud, contrivance, or force, occasion
the drunkenness of another for the purpose of causing him to commit
any crime, or who, by threats, menaces, command, or coercion, compel
another to commit any crime, are principals in any crime so committed.  

Key words: Those who abet criminals are principals in any crime committed.

Furthermore, I am considering joining a class action suit where we will be demanding any monies paid to you already, as you have defrauded us by using said monies to promote, fund, and participate  in criminal activities.

I am a kid and I got this call twice I accidentally hung up the second time and I couldn't even understand the guy I am scared I don't know who he is but it said 1 in frot of it but not a +1

This number keeps calling my elderly mother's cell phone and using up her minutes.  No one ever speaks. Am reporting them to who ever I can find! They called 3X today!

HSBC? I have no conection to them at all. Also a number 360-350-5282 calls 5 minutes after. It might be connected.

Not everyone reading this board is a debt collector or debtor. I came across it because I googled the number that has been calling our house all day, everyday since we got the number. Apparently the person who had the phone number did not pay their bills because we constantly get these calls for someone I don't know! I have nicely explained this to these debt collectors but I guess they don't believe me so they continue to call. Anyone know what we can do? Honestly, we never even use this land line but need it for our security alarm.

I've told HSBC that I've got an Attorney, am filing a ch 7 and foreclosure pls stop calling. Gave them the number and name but they call anyway let the phone ring till you answer then hang up.  Little f.....kers.  Tonight again after another 4 calls I called them back after using this blog (thank you by the way) and AGAIN let them know to call the atty.  DO NOT CALL ME.

We will see.  My Mom and Dad are sick and I hat turning the ringer off so I can rest now after my surgery.... the bank don't give a crap..  My parents are 87 and may need my help, my dad is hooked to a drainage device to pick up clots out of his arm from a recent fall... It goes on.

THEY DON'T CARE.  THE CALLS WILL KEEP COMING AND THE STRESS WILL STILL BE HERE.

3. Not that it matters but just on here checking # to see who's calling me. Oh btw, it's cause I used my CC on the internet and bought something from England, and don't answer 800#'s because nobody important is calling from an 800#. So yes tell me how much of a "debt collector" I am... morons.

I am in the same situation.. Started harassment calls at owing $30. I had notified them that I was not working.. I have a $300 SECURED card and had not reached the credit limit.. They call 6 or 7 times a day, some hang up, some not.. they refuse to acknowledge the $300 that they have held of mine for the last 5-6 years.. This harassment needs to STOP> I could have paid by now.. but it has become Principle.. and.. they keep raising the charges...I'm game for a Class Action.

Wow. I only came on here to see what the heck the number was. When I call it back it just asks for me to enter the last four digits of my card number. Since I have several cards, I have no idea who this company is. For the record, as far as I know I am up to date on all of my payments. Since most of my cards are carrying a zero balance, I don't have too much to keep up with. However, if I am extremely busy or sick, sometimes things slip through the cracks. When I realize it, I pay it. Period.

I have nothing but respect for anyone who has a job, whether they work at McDonalds or they are a debt collector. I don't necessarily like some debt collectors, but if you owe, you owe. Fix it or fight it, but it is not going to go away just because you don't answer the phone. You will understand that someday when there is something you really want or really need and can't have it because your credit is lousy. I made a lot of mistakes when I was younger and it took some time and more money than necessary to clean it all up. Honestly, some of the mistakes were not even mine. My ex husband also left me in a terrible position, but he was never going to pay it. Someone had to. Sometimes life isn't fair - believe me, I know it. I once did work at McDonalds. I did telemarketing, home health care, and retail and I had four kids to take care of on my own.

I'm shocked by the amount of belittling comments made on this site, coming from all sides. I only read a few before I had enough. I just wanted to know who was calling me, but I'll go figure it out myself. If it is a bill I've missed, I'll pay it and stay clear of these crazy boards. Unbelievable.
