I get calls from this number too. They are not looking for me. They are looking for someone with the same last name. Funny part is the last names are pronounced the same but spelled different. They insist my number is the one on their file. I insist I have never done business with them or who they are collecting for. Then ask them for the spelling of who they are looking for. I have no idea why my number is on this file. I have had the same phone number since the early 60s. Today I pushed the 0 button to get an operator. Didn't work. The line just went dead. I will be watching for more from them. Now it has got to be a game and I WILL WIN! I am retired and have time to play.

They have called me 6 months non stop. I finally got tired of it after they called me 3 times within 15 minutes. I called back every time and asked what company it was and no one would tell me till the final call I made.
I asked them to take my number off their call list and they said it would take 24-48 hours and even then they would still call one more time. I said "ok but if you call again after 24-48 hours.." when she interruped me saying "OH Dont you threaten ME!!!!". I said she didnt let me finish and said after 24-48 hours I would change my phone number. She said to "go right ahead, we have ways to work around that".
I already reported them to the attny general, fcc, ftc, bbb, every agency I can think of. I also sent a cease communication letter in Dec. and STILL getting calls! Other than hiring a lawyer what else can I do to stop these harassing phone calls???!!!

I started blocking the calls too until that is my block list got filled. they have HUNDREDS and i mean HUNDREDS of numbers to call from! bets thing to do is contact your local attny generals office, the ftc and the fcc. And asking them to take you off theyre call list wont wotk. Ive already tried that. Also changing phone number wont do because they use "skip trace" to fnid you.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. They wouldnt take a money order in the mail, only check accnt # or Credit card number OVER THE PHONE! And they would NOT tell me who it was that submitted the collection, and that I had to pay Penn Credit corp because they now OWNed the debt. I'm not stuipd enough to give out my account info over the phone to a total stranger nor am I giving out my ssn# drivers license # date of birth etc to someone to "verify" my identity.

What an annoying company. Calls daily... multiple times (even on Sundays). I answered twice, no voice on the other end. I stopped answering after that but they still call... won't leave a message on the voicemail either. I looked up the number online and it stated it was "Penn Credit" or something like that. I have never dealt with them so I have no clue why they could be obsessed with my phone number.

This company calls us nightly after 8:00 PM. They are looking for someone else. It's not either of our names, but they keep calling. If I could talk to someone, I could tell them, but how do you actually get a person?

I think it's my husband's ex-wife. They've been divorced over 25 years and I don't know where she lives, not that I'd tell them.

@collector who said: "Don't get rude with someone from a collection agency calling if it's a wrong number, it's not our fault, we were given the number by the person we are trying to contact"

Utter BS. This one particular company 800-900-1380 calls me PERIODICALLY. My wife and I are listed in the phone book as "D and M LastName". Well this credit company, and I'm sure others, see this and fish for someone they have a debt on, because I get calls from them asking for a MELISSA Lastname, or MARK LastName...neither of which are my wife or I.

So clearly NOBODY gave them the number, they are on a fishing expedition.

As a debt collector, I was curious as to what was said about collectors on the internet. You do NOT tell a company you want to cease communication, companies want it in writing.

"CEASING COMMUNICATION.  If a consumer notifies a
debt collector in writing that the consumer refuses to pay a
debt or that the consumer wishes the debt collector to cease
further communication with the consumer, the debt collector shall not communicate further with the consumer with
    respect to such debt, except—
    (1) to advise the consumer that the debt collector’s further
    efforts are being terminated;
    (2) to notify the consumer that the debt collector or creditor may invoke specified remedies which are ordinarily
invoked by such debt collector or creditor;"

I know this because not only do I know the law, I was tested on it MULTIPLE times. Also, if we DON'T KNOW that we're contacting a family member, how are we supposed to stop? As far as we know, we're contacting the debtor.

A tip for a debtor: We're only allowed to have contact (this includes knowing we're talking to the correct person by verifying a name plus another form of identification) once every three (or five?) days. We work on an automatic dialer and the dialer does that sort of work.

The big problem with this caller is that I answer the phone all the time and there is no one there.  I have no problem with them trying to collect a legitimate debt from someone, and am sure it isn't mine, but I want to know what debt it is and whose debt it is.   Another reason I answer is to inform them, if there is actually anyone on the line,  that I don't want to receive any more calls from them and furthermore that I recently purchased a dandy little item called a Screecher and the next live person who calls from their company will probably lose the hearing in one ear.  I know that would be illegal, but wouldn't it be great to get this whole thing out in court for everyone to see how these firms work, and I'm sure if there are any members of the jury who receive these types of calls I will be acquitted.

I keep getting messages from this number.  They have a tape playing telling me they have important business matters to discuss with me.  I have no business dealings with these people, and they call me at all hours of the day and evening with the same message.  I called them back and asked them to stop calling and they still continue to call anyhow.

Received another of several calls from this number.  This time there was actually a human and my wife advised the person they are asking for doesn't live here and never has.  She asked them to remove our number from their system but I know they won't do that.

OMG - this is the same problem I am have from this same number: 800-900-1380. a year os so ago they would call 2-3 times a day. Answered 1 time and they asked if this was (last name) residence - I said yes how can I help you. They said the were looking for Betty or Richard (last name). I told them there is no one living here by that name and asked them to stop calling. Then all of a sudden we are getting calls from the same number - 800-900-1380-  for the same reason looking for a Karen (last name). Again - no and please stop calling this number. It wasnt 15 mins later they called again. I believe they get all the last names from the national directory and just start calling numbers with the same last name in a given area  looking for a specific person. How do we stop this insidious harassment? It seems to be a lot from the same number.

Penn Credit I believe look in national directory and just start calling numbers with people of the same last name as someone they are looking for. Have had this same problem many times with same comp - 800-900-1380. has got to be a way to stop this with some results.

When I try this I am told you cant block 800, 866 or 877 numbers. You need their home base number. When I finally did answer telling them they had the wrong person -I has them for their home base number with area code - and surprise - they hung uo on me
