- LeonardThey call at least once a day, tried using the phone company number I pay for and is supposedly block further calls from this number but it never works. I don't answer, and when my answering machine kicks in they hang up.
- PIzzapoochSame as another person said, "Please call 1-800-900-1380 for important personal information." They used my daughter's name who I haven't seen in many decades. She never lived in this house or had this number. I did, however, start receiving calls from collection agencies who were looking for her. I believe she was using my address and phone number fraudulently.
- Margee123 replies to enoughThe Do Not Call department does not stop all calls. They are supposed to investigate only the number you tell them called you and annoyed you. Each number that calls has to be reported. They closed down the "Hello I'm Rachel I can give you a good deal on a credit card". But guess what they have called me with three different numbers. After I block one they call me with another. Once you block their number they should know you are not interested and stop calling. I just block the number and forget it.
- Margee123 replies to karenWhen you send a check and you pay the account in full, down in the corner of the check (most checks) they have a place for a message write "Paid in Full" if they cash the check they have no right to call and bug you. And you have the receipt saying that you paid it in full. Try it next time and if they persist you can sue them.
- jconnolly| 1 replyPenn credit calls several times a day. It is always a recording and I have no way to remove myself from their call list. I have no debts to be collected and am tired of what I feel is harassment. How can I make it stop?

- CWG40 replies to jconnollyCall blocker might be of some help. Also don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize, or where there are caller IDs that seem odd. Or where there is no caller ID.
Also consider a cease and desist letter. This should be sent by US mail return receipt requested.
If they are bothering you,
Report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

- vann| 1 replyThis is a credit collection company looking for people who owe money. They called here at 8:09am Friday morning. A recorded voice said ".... press 2 if you are not." When I pressed 2, the recorded voice said, "Please have ___ call 1-800-900-1380," and hung up. When I called the number to find out who was calling us, I learned that it was a credit collection company looking for a person who *does not* live here. They were fishing, calling different phone numbers looking for this person.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

- Former student| 1 replyThey, along with many other companies, try to collect student loan debt. I did as ordered and signed my life insurance policies over to the guarantor, but death benefits are only worth about $20k so they want me to take more out until my full debt is covered. I have not worked in over 5 years due to a work injury and awaiting a wc hearing. Although it is supposed to be for surgery so I can return to work, they claim a court order allows them to take 100% of wc, though I have never been served with process, so I doubt there is an actual court order. If you default on student loans, plan on living on the street for the rest of your life. It is basically over, in my opinion.

- CWG40 replies to Former studentYour story doesn't seem credible. However, if it's true in any way, you need legal assistance. If they have these "court orders" you should try to get copies. Court orders are public records. I seriously doubt such an order exists.
Can't figure out why someone would "sign over" insurance policies on someone's say so, without first going through some sort of court action. Sounds fishy. - d.r. barrettthey call me at different times everyday. it is from penn credit working for geisinger medical group. they cant get it through their thick heads im on a fixed income. cant pay it. geisinger turned me down for payment assistance as well. i also found out from welfare that geisinger has to write off the balance due. because im low income. and disabled.! but they cant except that fact. as well geisinger damn near killed me.!
