Just had something very similar met this girl on MeetMe. She said she was living in South Carolina and moving to co before going back to college this fall. She clearly said she is 19. So we swapped photos and what not then I get a call from detective Johnson with Lawson private eye services ((864) 520-5398) saying that Lacey's father had filed a complaint because she is 16 not 19 and then he has the father contact me (+1 (864) 438-7960) Ronald Knight telling me that if I give them the 2000 they paid for the private investigator then they will drop the complaint.
Has anyone else had this same number or same names of people. All the area codes are Greenville SC

Research underage scam and see. SC is synonymous with it as well as dating sites. Pay this crook nothing and have no further contact with anyone relating to it. They're all the same person.

This guy called me too. On okc i met his daughter . She sent me tit pics. I didnt send any and the detective calls first.and right away i could tell by his tone he was bs i thought he was a telemarketer. The" army officer" dad hes pretending to be now sounded fake wasnt even mad. I was kinda like.your daughter is a [***] dude. Then he kept calling his "wife" and wanted me to paypal money to her for the airplane ticket for their [***] daughter back to sc. All bs. I blocked em. The "detective" never answered again and the number is linked to the angry army dad. These 2 suck ass. Its a 864 for the dad now

I got a similar story. The after the girl sent me a picture she told me she needed money to pay her phone bill and I told her I couldn't help. So then 4 hours later her so called dad calls from a 803 number and says his wife wants to press charges but if I pay for the damages and thearopy it will go away. Then tells me to pay 175$ a week but wouldn't send proof of the damages. Does this sound like a scam?

I didnt have this number but I had the same area code. I unfortunately didn't think dtraight and forked over 1500 dollars. And they said they needed 700 more or they will go to the courts. They even offered to return the money if they take me to court, they had some guy pretending to be from a church call and ask how I wanted the money back whether bank transfer or cards, I'm waiting to see if a "detective" calls

Hey there I just wanted to say that I think this scam is happening to me right now. I was kinda freaked out about it when I received a call from the man claiming to be Patrick's father called my phone while I was at work. Some background: I am gay and was using the dating app MeetMe. The initial conversation started with the guy immediately wanting to text which I kinda thought was odd, but went ahead and gave him my number. After a considerable amount of time I finally get a text from this guy who immediately asks me if age is a problem. I told him not really, and he proceeded to make passes at me. After I received a shirtless pick I had my suspicions that this guys really wasn't the age he was saying. The number that I got a text from was: 843-901-5689. I'm still a bit worried that this is real, but I don't think it is with the amount of comments that are similar to mine.

This just happened to be today he called me first didn't answer then sent me a msg this is private investigator Mark Vincent from the Stillengers Investigation Inc., there was a complaint made against you for child pornography and unlawful conduct of a communication device under U.S 2256 Title 18 which is a serious offense if not heard from a warrant will be issued out for arrest

Fake as all get out! One, you are NEVER notified over the phone about a warrant. Two, you're never notified period about a warrant. Three, total scare tactic to get you to call back. Four, a quick web search shows people claiming (as does this site) that it's a detective with the Lexington Poilce, not a private investigator-meaning the scammers have switched methods to appear more intimidating.

"Private Investigator".  Federal charges are handled by Federal Law Enforcement and the DOJ, not by "private investigators".  Certainly no one would call you and give you a heads up on this, that simply isn't anywhere close to how it works.  You certainly must have watched at least some TV or movie to know that.   While those might be fiction, many times they are closer to the facts than you realize.  He hasn't asked for anything yet.  No doubt he will be calling you back or he wants you to call him in panic trying to get out of it.  But if the "local authorities" will be contacting you soon, then you have no reason not to call them and ask them.
