I received a call from this number a couple time but never answered. When I finally called back they said that it was Chase and immediately asked for my account number. The guy on the other end was quite rude for no reason. I told the guy if there was an issue then I would check with my local branch than give personal info over the phone. I called the Chase Bank number that I normally call for business and they notified me my accounts were in good standing order and that if they did call they would not try and extract personal info from their customers much like the guy at the number in the subject line tried to do.

Nice thought, but the FDCPA doesn't apply to the original creditor, only collection agencies or other 3rd party agents acting to collect a debt. Don't bother with doing that if it's your original creditor who is calling you; it will have no effect.

A better approach would be to call them and make some sort of arrangement. I mean, they're calling because you owe them money. If they owed you money you'd be calling them, right?

They called today, and I actually picked up.  The caller ID says "Chase".  They asked for me by name, and I asked who was calling and the girl, who spoke perfect English I might add, just says "Card Member Services".

This is not Chase, it's not B of A, it's not any legitimate company whatsoever people.
Wake... Up!  It's a pure scam to get information from you over the phone.

I am now a full time college student who originally had a nice cc rate from WAMU. 14.9% after the zero percent term rate. When Chase took over they arbitrarily raised my rate to 24.9%. Not much of a greeting from the new bank. This caused my monthly payment to increase beyond my ability to pay. At first I scraped it together but eventually fell behind. My acct. with WAMU was perfect and always paid on time. I still have never missed a timely monthly payment but cannot pay the full amount. This has led to the bank cancelling my credit line and extra fees of course. I personally dispise this bank! They chase what matters to them...money!

Danny- Although I do agree with most of what you have written, there are some americans that truly lost good paying jobs and are still working but way below thier usual salary and though they may be a few days late the CC Co. raise the rate making it even more difficult to pay on time, if you pay monthly but are a few days late if you ask them for help they actually say "NO, you are making monthly payments, so therefore you are not considered hardship", so note rate decrease. On top of all this the CC Co. are part of our unemployment problem as they outsource to India and Phillipeans, paying extremely low wages but not passing on any savings to consumers. I am not saying they should not make money but 29% Interest, that is pure greed. Americans that DO NOT want to declare bankrupcy and want to honor thier comitments are finding it more and more difficult. Also when I do go to purchase items that are needed, they are almost always made in another country, again you have American companies paying low wages and taking away American jobs. I think we should cut up any cards that are outsourced, buy nothing unless made in America, take America back and give the opportunities we once had back to our children and generations to come.

Believe it or not you have to actually be way behind in payments before they will make any deals with you. If you had been paying, although late at times, they believe that you are not a hardship case and refuse to help you. They do this after SENDING you a letter offering to help, UNBELIEVABLE!!! They are only fulfilling thier new obligations by offering help, but not providing help. I wish you luck.

I had Chase as a credit card company. They changed my balance transfer rates and upped my APR without contacting me. I simply did not pay them ever again. They can use the bail-out money to pay off my credit card. True.... credit rating took a hit but that's a scam, too.
