- miss piggy| 2 repliesthey say they are a lawfirm about fraud -paydayloans? RAffino Garrison and mccoy lawyers? not sure i have never borrowed a payday loan ever
- ms lady replies to miss piggy| 1 replyI just filed a complaint with the federal trade commission...they claimed that they were going to take out a warrant for check fraud...I have asked for validation of this debt and they refused...I don't know anything about a loan and have never been served with any legal paperwork, but she did say something about a statue of limitations..I would suggest that you do the same
- SmartassSCAMMERS! Do not even let these scammers ruin your day; they're a joke! Honestly, I kept calling them back just to [***] with them. They will not give you an address, they'll tell you where they're calling from, but can't give you an address. Also FYI: no government agency will EVER call or e-mail you, if someone does and says they work for "Raffino, Garrison & McCoy" which, might I add, are lawyers on the show Law & Order (lol), simply hang up on them. Or, do what I did, and [***] with them. They call themselves "investigators", but they're just losers with illegitimate "jobs". Fakes. Report them and their website to the FTC:

- Romance Books UnlimitedYep they did the same thing to me. Said there was 2 pending charges against me for check fraud and a warrant out for my arrest for some loan I didn't even have. Yeah people don't fall for it. It's a scam. The ladies name was Kate O'Neal she called me private and said she was with the criminal divisions and she was an investigator. She had a very heavy country accent and told me they were going to come to my home or place of employment. None of the stuff she said made any sense. She said I needed to call her back within 30 minutes or else they were going to have me arrested. Crazy people.

Nobody is going to arrest anyone for civil debt. Sure sign of a bogus collection agency is threatening criminal prosecution for a civil debt.
Don't offer anyone any information or money. Demand a written statement of the debt and have it delivered by US Mail. Otherwise tell 'em to go to hell if they call again. - Neece replies to Trisha D HarrisThey Like to use the name Smith i.e.

- ShillKillFor at least the last year, an illegal group of debt collectors have been terrorizing consumers, their family, friends, and employees threatening to arrest the individual of an unpaid loan or other debt (their generally don't even owe). Be aware debt is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, and you can't be arrested. They threaten a warrant if the victim does not pay a sum of money by the credit card over the phone.
Even if you do owe a debt, do not be deceived by the actions of this group. Many of the accounts they are attempting to collect they do not own. In other words, if you pay these people, that is not going to clear your debt with its rightful owner.
Although when pressed the callers give the victim an address in Columbia South Carolina (usually a vacant lot) or Atlanta GA (often a parking lot near the bus station). They are actually out of the Charlotte North Carolina area. The scammers are using the following business names
Reynolds, Hill, and Associates
Berkley and Associates
Kaufmann and Associates
Sanderson Blaine & Associates
McKenzie Reid Associates
Kennedy, Kline, & Associates
Nationwide Asset and Recovery
Piedmont Investigations and Procurement
Raffino, Garrison, & McCoy
McCoy Law Group
Here is a set of links to a variety of threads on this forum that document this group and its behavior. They include the experiences of victims as well as a former employee or two that quit within a week of finding out exactly what was going on. They also include responses from consumer advocates and people who are really criminal justice professionals advising victims of what to do
