SCAM!!! This number called my husband claiming my debit card had been attempted to be used in several states and was declined and my card was now frozen and I had to verify if I used some service called Apple Pay (no idea what this is).  He let me know so I called our credit union and they had no idea what I was talking about! There is no suspicious activity on my account, nor were there any notes on the account that anyone had tried to call me.  ALL LIES!

Shockingly legitimate. We received a call and I was suspicious. I saw the mixed things on this forum so we accessed our bank account to see three large charges not from us. The number that I reviewed matched the one on the back of our debit card. We called. They took no info outside of the report number they left when they called. We had to validate a weeks worth of charges.

As with any number, call your bank of your suspicious but we found this one to be real.

Number is legit. I had unauthorized fraudulent transactions on my credit card and they were calling to verify.

This number is legitimate as of 11/02/2015.  It is a fraud protection company - Falcon - used by my credit union.  I received a call from them giving a case number and a request for me to call them.  I figured it was a scam - called my credit union the next day.  The credit union confirmed the company was not only ok but that it had stopped people who had gotten my card number and were trying to use it.  One false charge got by but three were stopped and the card blocked against further use.  i thought an 888 number would be a scam - but it wasn't.

I called my bank to verify security and they advised it was valid. Called and was able to prevent a company from billing card that I had not authorized.

They call and leave a "case number" on voicemail telling you "it's very important you contact us and reference your case number."  Visa Debit card. It was for Bruce somebody, my name isn't Bruce...

I got the call in the evening and so couldn't call my credit union.  I called the 1-800 number on the back of my credit card and they said it was their fraud department phone number, so I returned the call.  I wasn't asked any questions except whether or not I had tried to use the card at a couple of retail places in Minnesota that day.  When I said I hadn't, they then cancelled my card and said I would receive a new one in 7 to 10 days.  Thank goodness for these folks!  They never asked for any personal information, but did tell me the address they had on record for me, and I verified that it was correct.

I keep getting calls from this number, and this is very unnerving, because I have JUST gotten my phone.

The callers seem to have heavy accents from middle eastern countries, and they keep asking for someone.

I'm pretty sure they just have the wrong number, but it's freaking me out.

They are probably looking for the person who had your phone number before you got it.

From the other posts in this thread it looks like your caller is a scammer.  The previous owner of your number may have changed their number to get rid of this pest.  I suggest you get a call blocker.

Absolutely legit number/company. They are contracted by many Credit Unions to provide anti-fraud services on credit cards issued through the Credit Union. They contacted me very professional polite and did not ask any questions about account or credit card numbers etc. They simply wanted to verify I had made a purchase (which was legit) they had all the details of the purchase (merchant, store #, exact amount of purchase)...they contacted me within 15 minutes of the purchase! It is a good idea to be skeptical of calls like this but they are easy to check out in this case...they are legit.

Someone named "Venwalla" called from this number asking me to call them back about a "routine security check" for my Check Card from DEXSTA Federal Credit Union. I called my credit union and they said it was NOT from them. It's alarming how many people are posting on here that this is legit...

I let them leave a message and they said they were doing a security check on one of my credit cards and identified which bank.  I then called the number on the back of that card and they said it is a company working for Visa and legit.  They said there were questionable purchases and put me into their fraud department.  I would never suggest answering and giving them info but if they are legit they will likely leave a message and you can check with your bank.  Saved me $400 in false charges.

Yes. We've had illegitimate charges identified and stopped before. But, I never return these calls in case they might be fraud. I always call the issuing bank (on the back of the card) and they are always able to clear suspicious activity. I repeat: I would never follow the instructions given on a call made to me.  I want to initiate calls regarding my finances.

I called my credit union and verified the 888-918-7313 was in association with them. Then I called the hotline to be asked my phone number, name and case #, in that order. No additional personal info was required and the info I verified was all within the voicemail itself. The next couple minutes was just verifying purchases that I made in the past week. If you don't make the call and they do end up locking your card because they think it has been unreportedly stolen, don't take it put on the clerk at the place your card has been unauthorized- its not their fault

To clarify, verifying recent charges consisted of the purchase amount and listed location said by the receptionist, and me simply affirming the transactions are intentially mine.
