Just got a call. I don't know who it is. from jackson, TN

Calls and hangs up

This # called. No vm left. I have no clue who is calling from this #

Called me left no vm

Left no message. No one on line when answered.

I just received a call from this number 731-256-9336. I recognized the Portfolio Recovery name you mentioned in your post. Seems like they have several numbers. I just keep blocking them. I have a whole collection of their numbers blocked off in my phone. They don't even bother leaving a voice message.

Caller left no message, so as with all unknown numbers, I blocked the number.

This number as well as other call for the same portfolio recovery. I don't have a portfolio to be recoved, only have one credit card with the bank I use and is payed off. I have student loans but am still currently in school so no idea what the people want.

Portfolio Recovery time barred debt.

they just called my cell asking for my dead grandmother shes been dead for over a month now and i was the power of attorney for her and ive never had this place call me in the last 8 years what a low life scumbags

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Same thing happens to me. They call and when I answer they don't say anything. And if I don't answer, they leave no message. Must not be that important then! More annoying than anything!

Portfolio recovery for a legitimate debt I owe on. Most likely calling wrong numbers. I worked for a debt collection company. Typically if you let them verify that it's a wrong number they will have a skip tracer track another number for the actual person and remove your number from their collection account.
