Not a Scam.  It was a recorded message from Bank of America to thank me for alerting them that I would be traveling and if I had any issues to call them at the numbers they provided.  It did indicate they were from the Fraud Protection Department of Bank of America.  I did indeed put a travel notice on my card through their website.

I can see why everyone's getting concerned. I too received calls twice from the 315-724-4022 number. The voice mail says it's Bank of America, and if I haven't received the card or have questions to call the number on the back of the card, which I did. When I contacted the bank, they said there was nothing wrong with my account. There was nothing to indicate my card had been compromised in any way. However, I gave him this phone number, and he said, "The specialists contact number is :  315.724.4022 is an international collect phone number." I confirmed that it DOES belong to the bank. HOWEVER, when I called the 315 number, it asked for my phone PIN and immediately asked for my account number WITHOUT putting in the pin, so I obviously didn't do it. I asked the bank to cancel my debit card and send me a new one - just in case.

This is a legitimate call.  I had received an email last week saying there was a charge that may not have been authorized and then a few days later I received a new debit card.  The automated message left from this call just confirmed what I already knew regarding the new debit card being mailed to me and in no way was I asked to give out any personal info. You guys claiming this to be a scam need to quit being so paranoid...and ANGRY.

LOL, the auto greeting says:  "IF this is an operator with an overseas collect call, please note, that YES, WE will accept the charges"

Sounds like there's some reps at BofA that don't know what they're talking about. The call is legit, and I already got the new card in the mail. Called BofA, everything is legit.

I have No Card from BofA
WOW! I just received a text also regarding a B of A fraud alert (1-877-248-6278 and #35422). I have no account with them and they also sent a name of a person (Omar) I'm not familiar with. Someone called me back from the 1-315-724-4022. Good I told the text "H*** no these were not my charges!" If this is legit, at the very least I may have saved poor Omar from  $4096 from Macy's, $24.54 (whoops!APPROVED) for Amazon, and a $1,500 ATM withdrawl. Hopefully his card was blocked.

For sure a scam! BofA does not need your debit card or account number to access your account they use a phone number and your name. Never give that stuff away over the phone!

Actually they do send text messages if you agree to it.  I was at a gas station where I made 2 separate transactions.  The 2nd was declined and I received an immediate text to call BofA fraud department to confirm the transactions.  Always call the fraud department to verify their activities.  Customer service rarely has the correct answer regarding the fraud department's procedures.

they have called twice in the pst few days and never leave voicemails. I have been receiving calls from 2 other number from Michigan and South Carolina as well, and they don't leave voicemails. I believe these are scams of some sort so I have blocked all the numbers.

ATTENTION:  The number is not a fraud!!!  If you recently received a new Bank of America ATM/Credit or Debit card, upon activation, Bank of America is calling to confirm that it's you, the account holder who has activated the card.

It's the number on the back of the Bof A Debit card. They are calling to me know my card has been used at a compromised location and to be safe they are sending me a new card to use immediately.  Kill the old card.  Inconvenient, but this is why I use them.  It's not their fault - it's VISA.  NOT A SCAM.

When I returned the call, I got the overseas operator, asking me if I wished to accept a collect call.  Didn't say from whom, so I just hung up.

This is 100% legit.  The 312 number is on the back of the BofA debit card, and is listed as "From Outside US, Call Collect at".

I received a new debit card over the weekend, and activated it last night.  The VM I received today stated my card had been compromised, and a new card was to be sent out.  That VM was referring to my old card, so the call was basically a day late.  I did speak with BofA, and they confirmed all is good.

it is a scam. I was just on the phone with BofA today in regard to a skin cream scam and they told me if they needed to contact me, they would most likely to it by email or send a letter. Not call me. Once you buy something on line, that is when the fraud starts to happen. Don't buy crap on line, you will regret it. I bought a sample cream for 5.00, they turned around and took 200.00 out of my account. Good Luck
