- LineaVerizon has charge me over $20.00 for calls with the phone number 800 528 4800. What can be done? I am frustrated.
- LeeThis # is now calling me. Add that to the list of the other 100 #'s or so that call weekly. No message.

- JoeI received two calls this morning. The first was at One A.M. and the second was Three.A.M.. I am registered on the no call list, but this doesn't seem to matter to these people. When they start calling in the middle of the night, what do we do. Toll free and private must be the same people. I have no debt's, there must be some kind of scam behind these calls. The call's that were made last night have got to be against the law.

- MarciaSCAM CALL! FRAUD FRAUD
This is a Theft call, they know how to bypass Caller ID number and they use AMEX customer service number... ALL THEY WANT TO KNOW IS YOUR CARD NUMBER and steal it that way... I have the call at least 5 times a day... TELL THEM THEY GOT A WRONG NUMBER! It's not AMEX!!! - Shari| 1 replyThe number DOES belong to American Express' customer service as you will see on this link to their directory on their website.

- Biff Barklestein replies to andyGot my so call first call just now. I answered with my business name and they hung up. I'm not sure what's up, but I'm not a big fan of this foolishness.
- AMEX customer| 1 replyI don't think this is a scam. They called me with this number when I was travelling abroad and they thought that somebody might have gotten a hold of my CC# over-seas. But it was just me. I don't like the way the annoucement says it's Amex and to give them your card number. You can't go any further without giving them your card number... which sounds dangerous to me. I didn't give them my number over the phone because I don't have any way of 100% proving it's them. But I'm pretty sure it's legit. The number appears on their website.

- Sharon replies to michaelaThe problem is the phone carrier companies (who you pay your bill to) do not or will not use technology for scammers to change the called ID to make it look like they are someone that they are not.
Call your state representatives, congressman, senator or state attorney general and utilities commissioner to complain to get this changed. - Sharon replies to ARMYKGYes, and this is why you should call your phone carrier, your state and national representatives and senators, your attorney general's office and your public utility commission and tell them to force the phone carriers to STOP the scammers from cloning IDs to make it look like someone they are not.
- StevenAmerican Express calling, trying to sell me on some kind of identity theft security plan. I interrupted and said "I'm not interested. Anything else you're calling about?" He said no, gave a number I can call if I had "any questions or concerns about this call" and politely said bye and hung up.
I've found that asking "Is there anything else you're calling about?" immediately upon declining their offer throw telemarketers off-script, so they're less likely to go through the standard follow-up push.- Caller: American Express

I answer, they hang up.
Great business plan these folks have. Wasting their time and mine.
Dumb, dumb people.- Caller: Unknown
- kosmosSince Amex is so indifferent about this matter, maybe we might start thinking more outside of the box to, hopefully, make some progress in solving it.
For example, I heard that Chase Bank is having a lot of financial problems and they are afraid that the Feds might not bail them out (You know, too big to fail--just like the dinosaurs were--too big to fail. Ha! Ha!)
I imagine that the ‘fat cats’ at Chase (you know the 1%) probably want to drum up more business so that Chase can go on and on forevermore--too big to fail.
If more and more of us 99% develop more and more ‘bad feelings’ about Amex, we could end it with them and take out credit card business elsewhere--maybe Chase. It’s a gamble, but those ‘fats cats’ love to gamble; but, of course, only if they win. We don’t know what the 1% has up it sleeves. But we can be reassured that most of it is crooked. They love to ’stack the deck.’ They’re criminals, and some of them know it. . . . . . . . . . .
Or, who of us knows it, maybe those companies that sell call blocking phones want more business. . . .
I imagine that there could be a billion and one scenarios.
What’s your idea? - kosmos replies to Receiver of callThe person who reported your post as abusive is not on our side and I assume this person does not believe in free or creative speech.
I certainly agree with you that they are wasting your time. I think they are wasting most of our time. But I don’t think they are wasting their time: I believe they know exactly what they are doing. I don’t know what the heck they are doing, but most likely they know what they are doing.
And I don’t think they are dumb either. I think they are smart; i.e., they are getting away with their criminal activities: so far, very few of us has been able to stop them.
No, I think they are smart alright, and I also think they are sinister.
And those who report our posts as abusive are among them. They’re very cleaver. They are reporting us, the victims, as the criminals.
They think like attorneys. - AnnGot a call right a 9:00 pm last night on my land line. Left no message. They even got around my phone block I set up with my new phone!!! If it were for real they would not call. Instead they send a bill for the amount due.
