- EI just received a call from 866-750-9107. It was automated, said calling from the "Fraud Detection Center" they said my Husband's full name & the actual name of the bank. The fraudulent activity was reported on our ATM account. I pushed a button to confirm that it was our name. Then they asked for the zip code & said they were going to confirm some confidential info. So I hung up & called our bank. I gave them the phone number & explained the situation, & she just said never give out any info. I asked well do you use a Fraud Detection Center if there is questionable transactions. She said not that she is aware of. I want to close my account but my husband thinks I'm over reacting. I called the number on the back of my card & it is only if I want to report my card lost stolen & they will issue a new card. If I have questions I was told to contact my local branch...I'm so confused! I think I'm going to go down to the bank in person & have them look at my account because she never even asked me for my account number or anything to confirm or deny if there was any recent activity that looked questionable.

- HwnBoiTHIS IS NOT A SCAM.... I have thought this was at first until I made a purchase online, then tried to make a second purchase and got LOCKED OUT from my bank card purchase. a few moments later I was being called from this number, but did not answer. They did leave a message for me to call back saying they are from the Fraud Detection Center. I did call them back and entered the message code they left on my voice mail. Yes, they said the correct bank service I was with and I had entered my zip code. Then they told that my account was put on hold until I can confirm the card transactions was valid. they identified the purchase ammount and place of purchase (All transactions were TRUE) and I confirmed. THen they had released my bank card from hold at that very moment. Otherwise you would not be able to make any further puchases anywhere online and your local stores. I know it TRUE and I have been through it personally. And my bank confirms it...

- PeggyThis number called me today. Tonight the TV news says my bank is warning of scam callers.
- PamelaG| 1 replyThis is not a fraud. It is the system used by my Credit Union to detect any unusual purchases on your card. I attempted to make an online purchase on a Sunday and my card was declined. Shortly afterwards I got a call from this number. I did confirm that my credit union uses this company.

- mdprotector replies to BerryI just recieved a call from 877-372-3495 Financial Institution. They only information they required was my zip...nothing else. I recieved this call after making charge in Aruba. I then called the my bank and they confirmed that they DO in fact use this company. There are certain triggers that the bank has requested this company put in place to identify fraudulent acitivity. I deal with a small local bank who just changed their entire electronic banking system and this was a part of it. After speaking to the book keeping department I am glad that this system is in place.

- Marv| 1 reply866-750-9107 This is NOT a scam. Believe me I thought it was a scam at first. So i googled the number and was browsing through this forum reading posts as I was calling this number back but this is what went down SO PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ.
I got a voicemail from fraud detection along with a 6-digit case number so then I called the number and spoke with a representative. I was speaking with a male representative who sounded high and kept asking me for my information and to verify this and that so then when he asked for my SSN I hung up thinking to myself why would you need all these info. So I called VISA card services and they said that they don't call customers about this kind of stuff so then I called my bank which is ASB btw and explained my situation. They then transfered me to there fraud detection department and lo and behold it was the same number. So then the representative I spoke with was female this time around and sounded a lot more professional and didn't ask for to many info other than my name and card number to look up a case that has been open about the fraudulent transactions. She went through the transaction of the last 3 days that have been made and all I had to do was authorize them if they were my purchases. Nothing was wrong it was just that I bought a bunch of plane tickets and made a purchase for my job from a company out of the country which was denied anyway because they only accepted local transactions. So the reason they called was because there was just more activity than usual and in large amounts which caused suspicion.
And for the people that think I am just making this up and is a part of this whole elaborate scam by posting on this forum......well you are really paranoid but again I don't blame you it's your money after all. So just call your financial institution and have them transfer you directly to there fraud detection dept.
Sorry if post was too long just had to post this for the people still unsure about it. - on dutyI took a report while on duty from a person who received the same call "that a questionable credit card charge was made". The caller from 1-866-750-5570 was a total scam. All was verified from a reputable bank. Don't fall for this scam.... Don't answer the call; hang up if you did pick up the phone. Never give any information over the phone unless you are positive of with whom you are speaking to....

- Fraud SquadPart of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions. Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.
The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people. There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

- krthis was legit for me - I was trying to make an online sale and was declined. immediately received a call from these folks saying they were with fraud detection. waited for a real live dude who said I only had to give zip code, and then he listed my last like eight transactions. they knew everywhere I bought a beer last weekend - i'd say it's legit.
- tellin it like it isFRAUD PROTECTION CENTER 866-750-9107
Could be from your bank or any debit/credit card provider that has signed up with this service to help you notify you of suspicious activity on your debit/credit card. Just call the number back, key in the the code they left on your voice mail, and answer yes or no to the charges they are questioning. If you don't call back....it will keep calling you every 2 or 3 hours between 8:00 am and 9:00 PM until it reaches you. You don't have to speak with a person. It is all automated.- Caller: Fraud Protection Center
- Melissa| 1 replyI received a call from this number just moments after placing an order with Amazon. They said that they were a Visa fraud protection company. The funny thing was that the phone number I gave Amazon was my Google Voice number. However, my bank has my actual home phone number. I have never given them my Google Voice number. Instantly, I was suspicious.
One of my best friends ordered some things online and had a similar "fraud prevention" phone call.
She thought it was legit and verified the transaction. Just a day later, she had thousands of dollar in fraudulent charges on her card. The only thing she could think of was that the verification company was bogus.
I contacted my bank, which is a very small local bank. They do not outsource fraud prevention and, what's more, my card is a Mastercard, not a Visa. My bank said this was fraud. I then called Amazon to see if there was a problem with my order. There wasn't. Later that same day, I used my card and there was no hold, no problem and no fraud block.
Don't give them your billing zipcode!! - Mike| 1 replyI got a call from this number today while paying my phone bill on the phone, and spent probably 20 minutes calling my bank, my phone carrier, my phones fraud detection line, and my banks fraud number to try and track down where this number came from, and how it knew the exact amount my phone bill was just paid for.
It in fact DOES belong to a LEGIT fraud detection place. If you don't believe me, there's an easy way to find out; call your bank after you get a call from this number, ask for their fraud line number they call out of when they suspect fraud, and verify the number with that fraud company. I had my bank call the fraud detection company that they use because they didn't recognize the number either. The Fruad detection company my bank uses, DID verify this number belongs to THEM.
People claiming this is a "scam line" are full of $&*# and don't do their own checking. Do the simple steps I said, and you can know these "scam" claimers, are full of it.- Caller: Fraud Detection
- macbry| 1 replyLike many have said here this is a valid call. This is your credit or debit card company wanting to verify charges on your account. You want to talk to these folks!
