Left message regarding pending legal action against a deceased person (for over a year now) and how they would be sending sheriff to home or employer if call not returned.  Threats - obviously from a reputable ????? company since this is the first listing for this number. (I'm being sarcastic.)  Scum collectors - bottom feeders!  Oh yes and they called at 7:18 am - before legal time frame.

Absolutely claiming case numbers and court.  Calling family harassing .  Bill collector.  Very threatening verbage.  They still call and were give a bankruptcy case #.  They are harrasing illegally.  Reporting to the federal authorities.

A woman with a mild British accent claiming to be "Investigator" Janet Block left a message on my cell for someone I'd never heard of. Gave a case number and said that a civil complaint with possible criminal charges was being filed (didn't say for what), and said the unknown person or her attorney must contact Ms. Block immediately. Left a phone number with extension. It sounded like she was calling from Contra Costa police department, though when I listened to the message again after I spoke with her, I realized she never quite said that. She answered the phone with her name when I called back (I didn't have to enter the extension), and I gave her the case number, which she didn't recognize. Turns out she was only interested in the phone number. She sounded perfectly professional when I told her it had been my number for years, and I'd never heard of the person she was calling, but now I wonder who I gave that info to! It never occurred to me bill collectors would be so bold as to imply they were cops! Luckily, I blocked my landline number when I called her.

Just got a call from this number, let it go to voicemail...the caller (a woman) left a message for someone I've never heard of, some guy who's apparently involved in a lawsuit. Like the other poster said, she left a case number and a number to call her back, but I'm going to leave it alone just in case this is some kind of scam.

For at least the last year, an illegal group of debt collectors have been terrorizing consumers, their family, friends, and employees threatening to arrest the individual of an unpaid loan or other debt (their generally don't even owe). Be aware debt is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, and you can't be arrested. They threaten a warrant if the victim does not pay a sum of money by the credit card over the phone.

Some of the people they are calling do not owe a debt.  Others they are calling have already settled their debt with the organization who owns the accounts. Even if you do owe a debt, do not be deceived by the actions of this group.  Many of the accounts they are attempting to collect they do not own.  In other words, if you pay these people, that is not going to clear your debt with its rightful owner.  

Although when pressed the callers give the victim an address in Columbia South Carolina (usually a vacant lot) or Atlanta GA (often a parking lot near the bus station). They are actually out of the Charlotte North Carolina area. The scammers are using the following business names (and there are many others, and they seem to create new ones daily).  They will normally answer the call back number as “Investigations”

Interesting. This number called my cell phone and said they were a medical alert service. No thank you, unsolicited caller. It seems strange that the other callers on this thread say it is a debt collector so perhaps they have dropped this number and a telemarketer had picked it up since the other calls are so much older than this one.
