- DontcallmeIts Portfolio Recovery debt Collector
- Caller: Portfolio Recovery
- Call type: Debt collector
- tawnie| 5 repliesThey accidentally left me a voicemail...which they never do. They obviously didn't know that they hadn't disconnected. It was the best thing I've ever heard. It started out with "Her man be knocking her mother 'effin' teeth our her mother 'effin' mouth. It continued with some stuff I didn't really understand...something about making her food. And finally ended with "I don't wanna be her friend, I wanna I wanna be her lover. ((CLICK))" If there was a way for me to post it for you to hear...for all of you who hate Portfolio Recovery as much as I do...I would. Cause this was one of the best things I've heard in a very long time.
- Caller: I'm assuming Portfolio Recovery
- Jimmy replies to tawnie| 1 replyYes they called me to, but I didn't get message. Thank god, I have talked to them before to learn why they were calling me and found out that I supposedly had a debt from U.S. CELLULAR for $1200 which was from 2003. I did have a phone from them at that time, but it was stolen and I reported it when I got my monthly bill. That is what made me notice my extra phone on my three phone plan gone. I ask why would a company like U.S.CELLULAR let my charges get that high in the first place and not shut my account off within 60 days of nonpayment?
It was only a $78 monthly plan for 1yr and I had already been with them for 9 month's.
Portfolio is part time scam and part time collection service.
I have to block them at least twice a day. - mrgwashere replies to tawnieI would do some research on Google to see if it's possible to save that in a separate file. You might even call your service provider for help. You've just got to post that everywhere... really. ;-)

- Roger| 2 repliesHow many numbers do these jokers have? Did not pick up call (showing Birmingham, AL). Don't know anyone from there or have any outstanding debt so not sure how they got my number.
- LMAO replies to tawnieThat is a hilarious voice mail and also shows the quality of the people who want your money.
Around a year ago, I wouldn't pick up on a phone call from a "debt collector" that was calling at least five times a day for a week straight. I forget who it was exactly, but I went online to a different website (not this one, because nobody here had reported the number at the time) and made a post about how these people probably discuss me around their dinner table, mourning the fact that I won't talk to them despite their being desperate to speak with me. I made a joke about how much they missed talking to me, and how sad they are that I will never pick up the phone.
The very next day, after making that post, the phone calls stopped. Instead, I got a text message from "Laureena" or someone like that, inviting me to come have sex with her. I am a 60-year old woman! I NEVER get texts like that!
I just KNOW that the text from "Laureena" was related to the post I made online about the never-ending phone calls from an unknown number. That phone number has never called me again.
Just FYI, I laughed about the whole thing. These jokers can be downright amusing. - Hazel replies to JimmyThey make up stuff. They buy ancient account information from hackers, then they invent a number and bother you to pay the number that they pulled from out of their a_ _.
I had a different company that did this to me a few years back, with a Sprint account that was 17 years old. The Sprint account had always been paid on time. Nonetheless, these weirdos invented a debt and then told me I could pay, like, $19 to forgive a $750 balance I owed. LOL!! When this same company mailed the very same letter to my house again, but addressed it to a previous owner who had been dead for five years, I put all the paper together and sent it to the Attorney General for the State of Texas.
Never heard anything from them again. I did an online search for them a couple years later and nothing showed up. They're gone. - BustedPortfolio Recovery as usual
- John B. replies to BurtHANGUP caller.
- Annoyedagain another call from these bottom feeding pond scums ! They use so many different phone numbers, cities, and states to make these harassing phone calls. Calls come in all hours of day and night. I do not answer calls from states when I do not know anyone who lives there. I just wish they would stop. They never leave a message ! Another phone number added to blocked list.

They were listed among the worst offenders on the late Bud Hibb's site!
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

I take it you are in the state of New York. You sound like the perfect employee for an organization that nobody cares a whit about. We don't care. Portfolio Recovery is irrelevant. We just like to tell stories about you ridiculous people. It makes us laugh. http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article21073359.html
Portfolio Recovery tried to scare $1,130.14 out of a poor, innocent lady by suing her in court. This lady did not owe the money. The jury was angry enough about it to award $251,000 in damages to the lady, and then punish Portfolio Recovery by fining them $83 million!
Portfolio Recovery is spluttering about unfair the fine is, but this is NOT unfair! Did they really think they were going to get away with their [***] forever? Did they really think that people are just going to lay down and take it? Nope!
This $83 million fine is only the beginning. It is about time that Portolio Recovery suffer what they've been handing out for nearly two decades. As they say, payback is a b_ _ _ _ !- Caller: Helpful comment
