Phoned BMO customer service. No record of that number in their system. I don't use BMO so I thought it was odd.

Got the call, got the message. Called back and they were verifying a transaction made to WesternUnion because my transaction history does not show that I do transactions like this through WesternUnion. Which is true. Was told that I did not have to deal through them if I did not want to that I could call the number on the back of the card instead. The number is BMO Fraud Investigation Department. Glad BMO is looking out for my interests. It pays to always be paranoid these days.

them & it is a real number. Recieved call with 3 supspicious purchases for Cell phones.

Just go again 866-418-8151 answering machine from BMO saying my credit card was compremised and they going to send me new card in the next 7 days, i notice on my phone that this number for over 2 weeks keep on calling my house but i never picked up, i called BMO and they said they never send new card by mail i have to go to the bank to get it. anyhow i'm not BMO client. i think its scam i pressed 0 and the line got cut, tried to call it again NUMBER DOSENT WORK!

Got a call, spoke to them. It's legit. They didn't ask for any personal info. They just asked me to verify if certain recent transactions where actually mine which they were. That was it.

This is a SCAM. Claim its BMO Mastercard calling. They said my Mastercard ending in 9474 may have been compromised and they would be sending me a new one.  Uh... I DON'T HAVE A CARD ENDING IN THAT. I went TO BMO, talked to someone there, no blocks or anything on any of my accounts, THEY called MasterCard, who said they did not have anything either, and I am the only customer with that [my] phone number.  They did not have 866-418-8151 as a known phone number, and they escalated it.  Bank told me to ignore it, and call them back (via number on card) or go see them in person if I am contacted in any way again.

Received this bogus call claiming to be a BMO "fraud alert" and phishing for information.  It was later confirmed by the folks at the bank that this was a scam - not BMO.

This number is legit. I just called BMO on the back of my card and the transactions I made were unusual, so they thought it was a fraud. They have a very good system to detect transactions that we do not usually do.

BMO credit card fraudulent department. At first, I thought they were trying to pull a scam on me so I trolled them a little bit, then I found out they were legitimate. That made me feel like an idiot. Anyways,they called me about a $300 transaction only a few days ago that I never made myself through an online purchase from my credit card. They quickly wanted to confirmed that I didn't make recently make any significant purchases and then they cancelled the transaction for me.

I called 18002632263 which is the BMO number I usually call to speak to them and they indeed confirm that the 1-866-418-8151 was the direct line to their fraud department. I called the fraud department first though and cancelled my card due to suspicious activity. To be sure I called the 263-2263 line and confirmed I didnt just give my info to some hacker!

All good guys....if you're paranoid just call the main number.

This is a legitimate number from the BMO Mastercard Fraud department.

I recently made an out of country online purchase and BMO called me from this # minutes later to confirm that I was the one who authorized this. I wasn't able to pick up but they left a message identifying who it was from.

Upon calling them back, they knew who it was made to along with the exact amount.

The number is legit. But hey, don't take my word for it, flip your BMO MC card around, call the 1800 number on the back of your card and you will see. Funny thing I only used my master card once for a hotel reservation the day before the fraud purchase took place. Its pretty obvious BMO and the police are on the ball and watching this hotel clerk.

Same thing here! Cell # text claiming to be a BMO there is a lock on my debt matercard,& need to contact them right away! I text them back letting them know they are a scam & I told them to go F them self. Told them to put me on the do not call list! Did'nt work .2 more texts after that.All of this within 15 min's.

I got this message from BMO Mastercard on my answering machine, and immediately suspected it was fraud, particularly when they asked for my credit card number before speaking to an operator. The message said there was some fraudulent activity. I hung up and called the number on the back of my Mastercard, got an operator, who said that yes, they had been trying to reach me. There had been two suspicious MC transactions done that day for $5,545 each, and that Mastercard had luckily flagged them and blocked them. They are going to be sending me a new card, and I cannot use the old one anymore because it has been compromised.

But BMO Mastercard said I did the right thing by calling them directly, not just replying to the message. So, strangely, the number is legitimate, but don't use it. Call the BMO Mastercard number that's on your card.
