- Marsha M. MannI am receiving numerous calls from 800-695-7444, asking for a Lanie in association with a dept. No matter how many times I tell them they have the wrong number, and that I am not Lanie, they continue to call. I would like for the harassment to stop. This has been going on for over a year.
- Call type: Debt collector
- noanswerforuthis number has been calling my cel. they leave messages for someone in my family who is deceased. they are threatening in their messages. i don't believe they are supposed to leave explicit messages even if they get the right number.
- ChristinaSaid he is a lawyer and I should get a lawyer as well. I am working with a credit company to clean up my credit and they said to ignore these calls.
- Call type: Debt collector
- AngryReceived a call before 9 am. It was for my daughter who hasnt lived here for almost 10 years. I did not answer. They left a very threatening message which i will report to the ftc. She is mentally ill and currently has no income. No credit cards. Did have a medical bill that she couldnt pay that is 10 years old. NO DEBT whatsoever. These people are scammers.

- BigA replies to need adviceYou are asking a question from someone who posted here 6 years ago. If you need help you need to explain your problem.
- Amy replies to rhondaGot one similar today that went something like this
This is agent so and so calling for Amy and didn't provide my last name, just Amy. If you do not have an attorney I suggest you retain one. You have until 2pm to contact me to resolve.
Here's the funny thing. She sounded like a 16 year old "like omg" and was stumbling over her words along with leaving me no contact information or company name.
Since my information was just compromised by a past employer I am thinking this is why I am now getting these. - amers replies to MarcelGot this one today. Anything actually happen or was this a complete scam. My information just got compromised by an old employer.
- Whatever replies to PSIf something has been charged off....it is no longer collectible. Due to my ex pulling some stunts when we were married, I ended up in collections. By the time I got the money to pay a particular debt, it had been "charged off". I paid it anyway with a letter of explanation....the company sent my money back as they had already charged off & received credit for it as a business expense. As for the rest, they leave a very threatening & damaging message on a voicemail that they have no udea if it's the person they want or not.
- Whatever replies to JoleneI got the threats, etc also but, when I asked what they were talkjng about, they named a company I've never heard of. When I asked when this supposedly happened, they said they didn't have that info but that it had been charged off in 2013. If it was charged off 3 yrs ago, why am I getting a call now? It is no longer collectible.
- Whatever replies to sMy voicemail answers generically....no name. How do they know they even have the right person?
- Michelle replies to GM| 1 replyMe too

One has to wonder why these allegedly “legit” companies need so many phone numbers to call people with.
Seems to be a frequent flyer in these pages with a very bad reputation. Be advised that they are not subject to the FDCPA since they are the creditor. They may however be subject to state laws.

Now for the interesting part.
BBB page with 1,655 complaints, and 216 negative reviews and they still get an A+ rating. What the heck is that all about? http://www.bbb.org/centralohio/business-revie ... olumbus-oh-6558
They must be paying big bucks to the BBB for that. Note, the BBB has suddenly removed all the complaints and ratings for this bunch of criminals. Now that must have cost some real money.
Bizapedia has them as a Florida Fictitious name but they are located in Ohio: http://www.bizapedia.com/fl/COMENITY-BANK.html

They are not subject to the FDCPA since they are the creditor. However, they may be subject o state laws. Curtesy of Resident47:
“Several enlightened states restrict the behavior of original creditor collections in ways similar to the FDCPA, usually granting private right of action, meaning the bank's in-house thugs can be sued by consumers. Those states include California, Florida, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Wisconsin.”

- chica replies to cabooseI've gotten the same thing. they call constantly aND recently called saying either my self or my attorney need to call that day
- Brenda E.Received two of these calls, the first on April 24th and the second today, May 4th. Both scripts were the same, they just changed the name of the recovery specialist. This time the name was so garbled i couldn't make it out. the slightly threatening tone was the same in both calls. Have my lawyer or myself contact this specialist by the end of the day or they will assume that i am ignoring their calls and will be forced to make a decision on how to move forward with this issue. the number that he called from was 1-800-695-0978, ext. 1227653. although i am currently laid off and admittedly behind on all my cards, this still seems a little off. and scary. i have had credit trouble before and have never received calls like this. regardless of how many times they call, tho, until i can get back to work or find another job, there is not much i can do at this point. and no way, no how do i give anyone my information over the phone. not these days!!! lol!! Be wary!

He was well you're the one who called me he said I have to verify who you are and I said you're not getting my number and I hung up. I say it's a scam.
