- CW| 3 repliesThis is yet another of the apparently limitless supply of numbers used by Portfolio Recovery and they never leave a message in any of the multiple phone calls per day. It does not matter what the statute of limitations are in your state, they will purchase debts older then dirt and hound you to pay up. This debt collector calls me on debts that were discharged on the bankruptcy that I filed 10 years ago!

They were listed among the worst offenders on the late Bud Hibb's site!
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

File a complaint at the NY State AG's Office here: http://www.ag.ny.gov/ - Dan from DallasThey called me and said I owed them money. I asked to who, when, how much and the date. It wasn't even ANYTHING I ever heard of, and I told them I needed paperwork. They told me they would get paperwork to me as soon as I paid. Funny how they stopped calling when I had the number directed to my friend, an attorney, and they never have called back. Damned criminals.

- Coolbreeze15 May 28, 2015 replies to CWI understand exactly what you are saying. My bank hired these people when I was trying for a loan modification. The
modification was signed in January 2013 by both the bank and myself. Portfolio did not care. They keep calling, even
today this number 847-737-4347 called me. My lawyer sued them in 2013/2014 and I received my check in June 2014.
For a month or two, I received no calls, and then they started back. It has been over two years and the bank is happy
with me and I am fine with my payments. But these people will not stop so my lawyer daughter is going to sue them next,
but these idiots don't care!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Rance A. NethkenWell, to say I am overwhelmed at the "list" of numbers they have, this is a new one; 847-737-4347! I wonder who the CEO of PRC really is! Obviously, he has the IQ of "zero"! I get two to three calls daily from this company that uses different numbers. After this CEO's company was sued for $83 million and lost, you would think they would stop this sort of thing but I guess greed is the motivating force behind this company as well as the gullibility of people when threatened by the likes of these human vultures will pay up in order to suppress these daily barrage of threatening phone calls!
And of course, the Federal Do Not Call List is about as useful as **** on a boar! I have changed my number at home three times this year and still they find a way to harass me even though my home phone has an unlisted number! Diabolical!! The only possible answer is that each number I get from Century Link may have been someone who in fact owes some creditor money and PRC is relentless to collect! I guess it is about time that the many complainants listed here might consider a massive "class action lawsuit" against PRC and then maybe they can finally be taken out of business once and for all providing everyone is willing to step up to the plate and execute the suit! What do all of you on this list think?- Caller: PRC LLC

- Bill| 1 replyThird call today from portfolio recovery, before noon. They have called at least 3 times a day for months. They have told me that if I don't pay them a debt that I don't owe they will send people to my house to kill me. On other occasions they told me that I will be arrested if I don't pay now. They are welcome top come to my house to discuss issues, no guarantee on their safety. I don't and never have had an unpaid debt. Total scam that would be frightening for old people and nothing is done to stop it.
