Then there was another company that used to call, asset acceptance ... anyone knows anything about them? ....Would leave vague messages on my vm, I think they were just fishing. Then they started saying (same telemarketers) they were Aperitivo LLC... or something like that! Sounded like a restaurant. Then they called themselves DRS or Debt Recovery solutions (same people) This was 12 years ago. I never returned any calls back and they stopped calling me. They never referred to me by name, they would leave general messages asking to be called back.

i fixed them good. simply sent them a  certified letter telling them to stop, i forget what exact statue i quoted to them, but it stopped them completely. you see they cant call you after the debt is over, i believe, 7 years old. but you have to send them in writing. they were bugging me over a 30 year old debt. at least they said i owed it, yeah its 30 years. did i owe it, who knows, its 30 years ago. there just another sad pretend company that hires loosers to make phone calls. they never collect anything.

I've HAD been getting calls EVERY DAY from this portfolio for SEVERAL years.  I just don't pick up the phone.  Finally, a few weeks ago,  I got pissed off and phoned them.  I spoke to some female and told her to take my name off their list.  She started to give me some [***].  I told her if I get one more call or invoice by mail,

(they sent several invoices in the past..  This invoice says clearly...they (Portfolio) cannot put a lien or they cannot effect my credit score etc.)

I will send a letter to my states attorney general (New York) and federal agency and I hung up.  They never phoned back but I few days letter I did get another invoice which I tore up.  This took place several weeks ago and they have never called back.  Today is May 8th 2015

Statue of limitations does not release you from debt people it only makes it so they cannot sue you for the debt after your states SOL hits. If you answer the phone, talk to anyone or ackowledge you are you your SOL resets and you are back to square one. I have been working on cleaning up my credit for years due to some irresponsibility and a lot of unforseen events. Learned a little a long the way. not much, but some lol Made a lot of mistakes with bottom feeders like these guys that cost me money when they bought the debt for pennies on the dollar. just dont answer or talk to them if your states SOL has passed. They cant sue you. You need to see if its an open ended or closed ended debt for your state. some have different SOL times☺

Please enlighten me and the rest of the people who come her for the RIGHT ANSWER with SOME REAL TRUE FACTS not some bullsh1t you pull out of your A$$.

OMG, you mean to tell me that my answering system picking up your calls puts me back to square one?

Total BS.  The Statute of Limitations never "resets."  Just speaking to someone on the phone or acknowledging your identity doesn't revalidate the debt for another 7 years.  Otherwise the statute of limitations would be totally worthless.

According to your theory, my 5 year old great nephew could answer the phone and that would the SOL over again.

Actually Joe the SOL does reset, but only if you make a payment.  Also that 7 year time frame is for credit reports.

PRA is a debt collection company guilty of countless FDCPA (federal) violations against consumers. Do NOT answer their calls, and if you receive mail from them, contact a local legal aid organization to find out how to handle this. These companies are founded, owned, and run by unrepentant scumbags.

Yes, making a payment is the same as acknowledging the debt is valid, but just talking to some idiot scumbag debt collector on the phone doesn't reset the SOL for whatever period it is in your state.  Once you've reached the SOL for your debt, the debt collectors are SOL.

Do these scum bag JunkDebtCollwctors think a person is really going to call them up or get in touch with them at all. They call every day of the week. Even on Sunday!!  And sometimes they call 2 and 3 times a day. I guess they can't find any other job. And they probably get a small amount of what they collect. That is of course if they can collect.
Every time the phone rings it makes me want to puke!  Because I know it is a debt collector. Is there anyway to stop them from calling?

Everything you need to know.  Send them a cease and desist letter by certified, return receipt US mail.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Getting a judgment against the collectors is great, but have you actually collected on it? Sounds like you now become the collector.
