- sick and tired| 1 replyGot an email from a coworker that these people had called looking for me today at work. They claim I have to call them back IMMEDIATELY regarding a "case". First off, I have no credit cards (haven't had for over 10 yrs), and my car is paid off, I rent (so I have no mortgage). I've not had to take out any loans either. So best believe these guys are running scams about non-existent debts. They will ask you to give bank account information and/or credit/debit card information to make an immediate payment. If you refuse, they threaten to file "charges" against you, and claim you are being sought for fraud. PEOPLE..!! PLEASE KNOW THAT THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS DEBTOR'S PRISON IN THE U.S. THIS MEANS YOU CANNOT GO TO JAIL OR BE ARRESTED FOR OUTSTANDING DEBTS. (UNLESS OF COURSE THEY ARE COURT ISSUED FINES IN COURT CASES AND TRAFFIC FINES) BUT FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE TAKEN PAYDAY LOANS, AS I HAVE BEEN READING MANY OF YOU HAVE, PLEASE BE AWARE THAT YOU CANNOT BE TOLD YOU COMMITTED "FRAUD" OR "CHECK FRAUD". THE REASON IS COMMON SENSE. THE COMPANIES KNOW THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE MONEY AT THE TIME OF THE AGREEMENT, WHICH IS WHY YOU HAVE REQUESTED THE LOAN IN THE FIRST PLACE. SO FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WERE APPROVED FOR THESE TYPES OF LOANS, JUST KNOW THAT WHEN THEY APPROVE YOU, IT IS ALREADY IMPLIED THAT THE CHECK YOU GIVE THEM IS NO GOOD. THIS IS WHY THE ARRANGEMENT IS MADE FOR YOUR CHECK/PAYMENT TO HAPPEN AT A LATER DATE. SO IT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE FRAUD WHEN A COMPANY ENTERS INTO AN AGREEMENT IN WHICH THEY ACCEPT A CHECK THAT THEY ALREADY KNOW IS NO GOOD AT THE TIME IT IS ISSUED. DOES THAT NOT MAKE SENSE TO EVERYONE??? IT IS ASTOUNDING THAT MANY MANY PEOPLE DO NOT SEE IT FROM THAT PERSPECTIVE THAT IT IS IMPLIED THE CHECK IS NO GOOD.!!! I know it can sound intimidating to everyone when receiving these calls, and for some of you, yes the debt may be owed. My only purpose for this post is to spread knowledge about how to handle the unfair practices of these debt collection places. If you are harassed by these people, all you have to do when they call is ask them for a LETTER OF VALIDATION, which is basically a document to show proof that they have the right to collect on the debt. It will also show the original creditor and information about the debt if it is truly legit. Since most of these are bogus calls, as soon as you ask them for validation, they will either refuse and/or hang up. The legitimate debt collection companies will, in fact, send you this notice. Once you receive this, If it is indeed an incorrect debt attached to you, then you can dispute it the right way through the original creditor, etc. But since most of these vile and bogus scum callers are NOT legit, that is your first line of defense (asking for validation). But please do not let yourself be intimidated or scared into giving your payment info over the phone to ANYONE!!! NEVER DO THIS!!!! Learn how to protect yourself and use your COMMON SENSE!!!

- ShillKill replies to sick and tiredFor at least the last year, an illegal group of debt collectors have been terrorizing consumers, their family, friends, and employees threatening to arrest the individual of an unpaid loan or other debt (their generally don't even owe). Be aware debt is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, and you can't be arrested. They threaten a warrant if the victim does not pay a sum of money by the credit card over the phone.
Some of the people they are calling do not owe a debt. Others they are calling have already settled their debt with the organization who owns the accounts. Even if you do owe a debt, do not be deceived by the actions of this group. Many of the accounts they are attempting to collect they do not own. In other words, if you pay these people, that is not going to clear your debt with its rightful owner.
Although when pressed the callers give the victim an address in Columbia South Carolina (usually a vacant lot) or Atlanta GA (often a parking lot near the bus station or a Peachtree Road Address). They are actually out of the Charlotte North Carolina area. The scammers are using the following business names (and there are many others, and they seem to create new ones daily). They will normally answer the call back number as “Investigations”
Reynolds, Hill, and Associates
Berkley and Associates
Kaufmann and Associates
Sanderson Blaine & Associates

McKenzie Reid Associates

Here is a set of links to a variety of threads on this forum that document this group and its behavior. They include the experiences of victims as well as a former employee or two that quit within a week of finding out exactly what was going on. They also include responses from consumer advocates and people who are really criminal justice professionals advising victims of what to do

- fernCalled parents house. A dispatcher verifying if someone would be home to sign for official documents. Gave a case number as well. Told parents ignore it. They elude (on answering machine) to being an official court agency and have an overall tone of u better call back or u will be in bigger trouble. .....totally a scam...

- So Done With These ScamsMy former husband recieved a call on his answering service from this rip off artists....I have been divorsed for 7 years! The message said that they were the county dispatcher and they were looking for me to deliver some official documents and they wanted to be certain that someone that was 18 years old or older would be around to sign for these court documents and that If I wanted to discuss this matter I had until 1:30pm to call back at 855-769-4462 with case number of 776982-CRT. First of all, I am outraged that they would be calling my former husband about an official matter (which it is not) and that our child heard the message on the answering service and thought I was a criminal going to jail. Secondly, I called the number back and was on hold with a message saying thank you for calling National Recovery Group someone will be with you soon. When the women answered she said that she was with McKinny & Assoc. - So what illigitimate company do you want to represent today? She could not confirm my information and when I told her that I was filing a FTC complaint told me they must have had the wrong person with my name. Folks, I am on fire about this as it infringes on person info as well as financial. I am going to continue to shut these companies down as I must be black listed because this is not the first time I have gotten these threatening calls.

- VanessaI was called today from a blocked number. A woman said she was with "World Wide Dispatch" and I needed to immediately call 1-855-769-4462 with case # 679523-CRT. I was concerned because of the urgency in her voice. I then asked her to repeat the number and when I repeated the case number her response was "Perfect!" She called me but couldn't tell me what the call was in reference to and suggested I call the number as soon as we hang up. I immediately looked up the number on Google and was referenced to this site. Needless to say I will not be calling them back. I usually don't send my number out but I have recently been applying for online jobs and I can only assume that's how they got my information.
Thanks to everyone for sharing your experiences.- Caller: World Wide Dispatch
