Received a call from them.  No idea why.

The caller wouldn't identify herself

This number belongs to Portfolio which is a collection agency who bullies and violates fair credit reporting laws. I dont have a debt with them and one was gained by his ex wife years ago while he was deployed. They refuse to abide by law and harass.

Received a call but no voicemail.  Googling the number shows that it's a debt collector but I do not have any past due accounts.

They want to [***] on you, credit collector.

They call from all different numbers and never leave messages.

A lady identified herself as Cynthia Mears calling from a recorded line.  She's asked for someone who doesn't own this number or live in my house.  Told her it's not me.  She said, "Are you sure you don't know this person?". I said, "I don't know you put that person.". She said thank you and hung up.

Portfolio Recovery LLC, A scumbag debt collector keep calling me using many different numbers. Its impossible to block them, But I do not answer any of their out of state or 1800/1866 numbers. If I do I pick up I hang up on them right away. They are looking for a past roommate of mine who is living in a halfway house. These people know this and they keep calling me. These people are not getting any information from me. They have been calling me for 18 months right now

Everything you need to know to send them a certified, return receipt cease and desist letter.  Then when they call again, sue them.  Maybe you could get an 82 million dollar verdict also like the woman in new Mexico.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Called my CELL PHONE! Caller id said Hutchinson, KS. I have kin there so i answered. Some 'woman' said "I'm 'so and so' on a recorded line. I'm looking for Adam. Is he available?" I told it that she must have the wrong # and why would she call me for someone else on a private unpublished DNC'd cell phone that in no way is associated with an 'Adam'? Then I gave her something "nice" for her recorded call; (*^&(&^%%$!@/.%&()!%+*.

In my case, I had more than number where I receiving calls from debt collectors looking for somebody I never heard of. Apparently they were calling an outdated number and refused to accept that fact.

Persistent calling

The person that called would not identify themselves and she kept telling me I owed a debt for a mortgage with Bank of America, and I have never owned home. This place needs to be shut down. They violate every law that governs debt collecting.

Received yet another call from them again from a different number. The first time they called I accidentially answered it when I meant to reject it. I wouldn't verify who I was and also told them  I am also recording this conversation and they hung up. Its ok for them to call and say they are recording this call but you cant record them.

Portfolio Recovery is going to have to pay me as their debt was discharged in bankruptcy, so they have really violated the law.  My attorney is going to rip them a new one!

unsolicited calls every day

received a call from Olivia. Asked for me by my first name.  Said she was from portfolio recovery about a debt for onyx corporation.  I told her I did not have any debt with them and she hung up.  This company is known to harass people even after the 7 years and it's off your credit report.  Statute of limitations in my state is 4 years. I blocked the number and if need be will seek a lawyer

When I get a call and don't know who it is, I don't answer and if they don't leave a message I block the number.  Maybe they will run out of numbers.

Evidently yet another Portfolio Recovery number.

There needs to be a federal law to limit how many numbers debt collectors can have and also a law limiting calls from a company to a particular number to three calls or so regardless of the outcome of the calls (don't call me, wrong number, whatever).

Violation of these proposed laws should result in 10,000 years jail time with no parole possible for the entire board of directors as well as at least a 1000 years for anyone that has ever worked for the company AND all their relatives and at least half of their neighbors. If someone dies in jail for these offenses their body should remain in the cell for the remainder of the jail term.

Just one more reason I should be Philosopher-King.
