I have caller id and I don't answer from Out of state numbers. They never leave a message either. It's against the law for them to continually harass you over the phone. Sue them!

- Umama| 2 repliesPortfolio has begun calling me again after a few months of beloved silence. They got them some new numbers! These dregs of society will try any ruse to get you to ante up. Do not give in to their drivel. Block their numbers and do not answer if you are home or it is your cell number. I do not owe anybody any money. I did owe money 11 years ago and I PAID IT OFF! Does the phrase STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS mean anything to PRA? No, obviously not. Another thing to do is to contact your carrier and change your phone number, or change your carrier and get a new phone number. Meanwhile I am blocking the 2 numbers they have called me from 602-635-3897 and 702-425-3735.
- Caller: POERTFOLIORECOVERYASSOC

Yup, sleazy debt collectors - Portfolio Recovery Associates - Tammy TurboThese dirtbags are a predatory, invasive, unethical company that buys old credit card debts, primarily Capital One.. They ignore the statute of limitations and the FDCA. They use hundreds of different numbers to call you, so blocking them is impossible! I asked them numerous times to send proof of this debt by mail, so far They haven't done that. Don't do business with these crooks!
- Caller: Portfolio Recovery Associates
- Call type: Debt collector
- CarolI agree with all the above comments. I don't have any outstanding debts but these stupid robot calls have come my way for 3-4 years. Idiots. I never answer numbers that I don't recognize.
- Caller: Portfolio recovery associates
- Jimmy| 1 replyI received a call from 702-425-3735 today, 6/24/15. Why they call me? I don't owe anyone. Will put them on my block list.
- Caller: 702-425-3735
- catePortfoolio has been ordered by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office of Consumer Protection to identify themselves in the caller ID when they call our number. Today, apparently, they did not do so.
This was call #679!!!! since these dirtbags had their lawyer Pearson send me a letter, almost FIVE YEARS ago, stating that they had "decided to cease collection efforts" on this so-called debt. He also wrote in the letter that the debt could not be verified. He also stated that it was from 1997, written off by some credit card company that does not exist, and that they purchased it in 2001. He did not explain why they clutched this printout to their breasts for eight years until 2009, when they started calling us to send money to contribute to their recovery service.
Take a long walk off a short pier, Portfoolio. You bought the printout, that's your problem.- Caller: Portfoolio Reoovery experts

- Rance A. Nethken| 1 replyThis organization is the most sleazy, underhanded, scum-sucking example low-life that I have seen in my entire life!! I don't owe anyone anything and yet if they had ounce of milk of human kindness they would at least identify themselves and the reason for their tryae of harassment made from numerous phone numbers! These idiots are the lowest of the low!! and of course, the Do Not Call list is a joke and after my changing my phone number three times these past 6 months, and it is unlisted, they still find a way to be what they are; absolutely the worst of depravity I have ever witnessed. I guess there is no way to put an end to these daily phone calls except don't answer them! I get four or 5 per day and it has become unbearable to say the least! Anyone have a suggestion, if so I would be delighted to hear it! I have call-block but that does not remedy the problem because they have a slew of many phone numbers to chose from as you all already know. Our wonderful agency can't get right even though many, many victims have complained without due process. It would take a massive and I mean a massive list of complaintents to file a federal class action law suit against these morons and even then who says it would be resolved! Enough said!

- BigA replies to Rance A. NethkenFirst, the DNC does not have anything to do with debt collectors. that is who is calling you. Now, if you are interested in learning what you need to know to put these criminals in their place, read the following, and make sure you pay special attention to the very end:
PORTFOLIO RECOVERY ASSOCIATES AKA PRA

They were listed among the worst offenders on the late Bud Hibb's site!
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

File a complaint at the NY State AG's Office here: http://www.ag.ny.gov/ - Walt replies to Ms B| 2 repliesPortfolio are real [***]. they filed civil charges against me 2 years ago, but never served me with any papers. When the court case finally came up (due to non action by either party) the local clerk sent me a notice. I did not respond to the clerk or portfolio, but I showed up in court which was not expected by their attorney or the judge. They wanted me to settle, I refused as this case is "years old". The judge dismissed the case and they did not re-file, but they continue to call everyday, sometimes twice, even on Sunday. Sometimes they use their ID, other times it is Las Vegas, Miami, Pittsburgh, etc, etc, etc. There is a local attorney who advertises I can get $1500 per unwanted call....I am keeping tabs, let the calls keep coming.....I may be in for a large payday.....
