- Madd| 1 replyHi, I don't know what an investigative unit is, or why they would be calling me from the end of the United States.
If you have business with me then send me something in the mail, otherwise stop calling! - AB| 2 repliesWow. These people never stop. They obviously have a new number to try to steal more money from innocent, hard-working people. That is correct, these [***] can mail me the information from the case they are investigating. US mail, not email. These people are the scum of the earth and are frauds. Do not call them and do not give them money!

- Dumb Ass Phone Scams| 4 replies"My name is Randolph Jameson. I am with the Department of Investigation in the Legal Mediation Unit. Apparently we have a case in our office that involves your name and social security number. Please understand this is an urgent matter. I do need a call back immediately at 678-248-5850."
- Rose replies to MaddThey have a least 5 numbers I have blocked 5 off Last time told them that I took a recording into the police and they just hung up do not give them the chace to say anything else so sick of this and you are correct they will not send you anything
- vernice callinder replies to Dumb Ass Phone Scamsjust got the same call with that message, very annoying
- Concerned Good SamHe called himself Randolph Jamison and said that he was from the Department of Investigation and Legal Mediation Division. Same crap as before... If you are part of an investigation, you would be sent a certified and possibly even registered mail documentation via a law firm which has to be signed for as most of you know. I only remind everyone because apparently the American accent could throw someone off to where they think this call might actually be legitimate because it's not coming from the typical Pakistani or Indian mass call center.
- Caller: ?Supposed department of legal investigation
- mikeThey called me from 3 different numbers. I keep blocking. I told rhem they have rhe wrong number.and they get very irritated. I told them to stop calling and they dont. So I took to calling them. Then they were hanging up on me. These guys are very misleading.
- Caller: legal processing
- Angie lucasI had multiple calls 2 or 3 times a day everyday. Telling me that my name and social has been compromised. I called back from a land line and told them I had been hearing about a scam that's why I haven't called. The lady told me that I was just called in circulation and that I would never get another call and then she hung up. Stupid people!!
- Caller: Department of Investigation of Legaltion
- vickiThese people harass me and my family trying to get information where I am or trying to get them to pay them. They had my mother really upset. And your right they should be able to send you something through the mail. This needs to stop!!!!!!!!!!!! This has been going on for about 2 years now.
- ParkerStupid [***]. Randolf Jenkson or Jameson recorded message. I have learned to search every number i get on phone, especially when they leave messages like this. Scared me to death first time it happened.
- TroyI received the same call with the same message. I returned the call and the lady answered with a different company name. I asked to speak to Mr. Jameson, she asked me my name ( which I did not give her) and I asked for hers, she proceded to spell it. I then asked what the call pertained to and she got smart with me and asked if I was questioning her. I told her I was starting to record the call which I was informed to do, she said forget it and hung up.
- Caller: Dept. of Investigatons
- Kelly| 4 repliesSame as above. Why hasn't the real law enforcement of any state or city taken these guys down? They give the same name to everyone they call. Do they think Randolph Jameson is a good sounding name to use? What idiots. How do they get our numbers and names? Who is allowing the yahoos to buy our names and numbers? I looked up the Dept. of Investigation, Legal Investigation Unit in Georgia. Which is the state that came across my phone. Wrong phone number. I am across the US from Georgia. Why would I be being investigated in Georgia? Not. I think I will call that real dept and inform them of this problem.
- Caller: 678-248-5850
- concerned citizen replies to Kelly| 3 repliesMs. ... You have a few grammar infractions.
Maybe if you didn't give out your information online ... they wouldn't have called you, and they wouldn't be calling you.
Also, if you did not do whatever they say you did, then they wouldn't have your information in the first place.
Have a great day! - Kat replies to AB| 1 replyif they are truly scammers how does a person distinguish that? How do Ya go about figuring out if it's valid company? Is there a way people can protect themselves from it going further?
- CE replies to Dumb Ass Phone ScamsWTH!! I received a call and got a voicemail from 678-248-5850. Voice mail says the exact same thing as this comment!
"My name is Randolph Jameson. I am with the Department of Investigation in the Legal Mediation Unit. Apparently we have a case in our office that involves your name and social security number. Please understand this is an urgent matter. I do need a call back immediately at 678-248-5850."
I tried to search the internet for this "business" and found nothing. I then searched the phone number and found this to be a scam! - ShillKill replies to concerned citizenFor at least the last year, an illegal group of debt collectors have been terrorizing consumers, their family, friends, and employees threatening to arrest the individual of an unpaid loan or other debt (their generally don't even owe). Be aware debt is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, and you can't be arrested. They threaten a warrant if the victim does not pay a sum of money by the credit card over the phone.
Some of the people they are calling do not owe a debt. Others they are calling have already settled their debt with the organization who owns the accounts. Even if you do owe a debt, do not be deceived by the actions of this group. Many of the accounts they are attempting to collect they do not own. In other words, if you pay these people, that is not going to clear your debt with its rightful owner.
Although when pressed the callers give the victim an address in Columbia South Carolina (usually a vacant lot), Atlanta GA (often a parking lot near the bus station or a Peachtree Road Address) or Phoenix AZ. They are actually out of the Charlotte North Carolina area. The scammers are using the following business names (and there are many others, and they seem to create new ones daily). They will normally answer the call back number as “Investigations”. They often call people with a recording claiming they are looking for a "defendant"

They also include responses from consumer advocates and people who are really criminal justice professionals advising victims of what to do

- SGTKS| 1 replyI just recieved a call from this number. It said I had a payday loan from a company that I have never heard of. !st I have never taken out a payday loan, intrest rate are to high. 2nd it is illegal for a company to give them to the military. What concerns me is the amount of personal info they had. They would not provide "proof" that I owe this money or that it is a valid debt. They said I had till 2PM to pay or I would be charged with 2 felony charges.
