Their number has changed. I just received a phone call on my cell stating that I had a case of fraud against me.
The number this week that was given was 855-947-7266. Again this was from the supposed law firm of Bailey and Rowe. I refused to give out any information when I asked to speak with one of the supposed lawyers she put me on hold. I finally hung up after waiting a solid 15 minutes. So glad that I looked them up and saw all the complaints against them.
What a racket! Thanks for the great information.

These people are frauds...they are a third party collection agency who buys payday loan bad debt and tries to strong arm people into thinking they have "pending charges against them" etc for fraud.  Most of the companies they "represent" are internet based (my Cash now, etc) and it is not even legal for these companies to do business in alot of states.  No court in the country would even let these scum bags drag someone into court for this.  Hang up on the jerks.  They are harmless.  They have no leg to stand on except for the intimidation factor when they call themselves "investigators"  lol.

Got a call on my answering machine a few hours ago telling me that an "investigator" wanted to know where I lived.  I figured right away this was a scam and didn't call them back. I googled the number found out is was bogus.

For at least the last year, an illegal group of debt collectors have been terrorizing consumers, their family, friends, and employees threatening to arrest the individual of an unpaid loan or other debt (their generally don't even owe). Be aware debt is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, and you can't be arrested. They threaten a warrant if the victim does not pay a sum of money by the credit card over the phone.

Some of the people they are calling do not owe a debt.  Others they are calling have already settled their debt with the organization who owns the accounts. Even if you do owe a debt, do not be deceived by the actions of this group.  Many of the accounts they are attempting to collect they do not own.  In other words, if you pay these people, that is not going to clear your debt with its rightful owner.

Although when pressed the callers give the victim an address in Columbia South Carolina (usually a vacant lot) or Atlanta GA (often a parking lot near the bus station or a Peachtree Road Address). They are actually out of the Charlotte North Carolina area. The scammers are using the following business names (and there are many others, and they seem to create new ones daily).  They will normally answer the call back number as “Investigations”

    Reynolds, Hill, and Associates
    Berkley and Associates
    Kaufmann and Associates
    Sanderson Blaine & Associates
    Blaine and Associates
    McKenzie Reid Associates
    Kennedy, Kline, & Associates
    Nationwide Asset and Recovery
    Piedmont Investigations and Procurement
    Raffino, Garrison, & McCoy
    Greenman, Schwartz & Associates
    McCoy Law Group
    Salem Associates
    Reynolds and Associates
    Ryan, Carter and Fields
    Berman, Maxwell and associates
    DOF Investigations
    Vaughn & Associates
    Bailey & Rowe

Here is a set of links to a variety of threads on this forum that document this group and its behavior. They include the experiences of victims as well as a former employee or two that quit within a week of finding out exactly what was going on. They also include responses from consumer advocates and people who are really criminal justice professionals advising victims of what to do

They called me yesterday saying that I owe on a debt that was already been paid.  I asked which jurisdiction the court will be in and they told me a completely different state that I actually live in.  I knew something was up, so I did some searching and found this site.  Thank you for the help guys.

These guys keep calling me, claiming I owe some debt, but won't tell me what for and refuse to give me additional information pertaining to my supposed debt or their company. I tried reporting them, but since I didn't know the name of the company, nothing could be done. They play a lot of games...here are a list of only a few of my experiences in the years that I have dealt with them:

    1. Called my job, somehow, had a random supervisor's number (who was not my boss, but knew me), who is also an attorney. They told him they were having me served at work and that I owed a sum of money (they gave him the amount). He immediately called me and told me it was a scam and no legit debt collection company would give him info on my supposed debt.
    2. They called me and told me they were the "warrant division of Texas" and I had 3 pending fraud warrants unless I paid them right then. I argued with the caller, since I am a PI and I was able to check while on the phone with her and confirm that I have no pending warrants. I also called my local police department who confirmed this. I called them back and let them know that I also had the confirmation of my local sherif that I have no warrants and they called me a "liar" and insisted that they were a real Texas agency when they are not.
    3. They called claiming that they were going to file against me with the IRS unless I paid them a sum of money within a week. I told the guy that I know my rights and that if they were a legit debt collection company, they'd be obligated to send me information on the debt I supposedly owe, upon request. He refused, telling me I obviously deserve what's coming from the IRS and to pay them and not ask any questions. I asked what the debt was for and the name of the caller's company was, he refused to answer those questions. I told him I have never received anything formally in the mail, he called me a "liar" and hung up.

These people are crazy, they always than he their story. Don't fall for it and don't let them get to you.

Great job Jenn! I've been dealing with companies like this for the past 2 years or so, they all say the same thing. It seems they pass our information around between themselves and take turns calling us. I've tried to get them all investigated but my AG office or the consumer protection agency but they can't find them or register their company. I've invited each of these companies, up to #41 now, to sue me, come to my work or place of residence, I've threatened them, yelled at them, asked them out to dinner, offered to have s3x with them, tried to get them pissed off enough to bring me to court, but I get nothing. I've asked what court system they are using, no answer. I got a call about a week ago, I answered, the guy asked for me, I said yes hello, he repeats my name and then hangs up. Now they won't even talk to me, for which I am not complaining. I hope we hear from someone who gets these [***].

I tried contacting DJR group and found they are a fake company.

Got a call two weeks ago from a Wanda Strong stating that I had perpatrated a fraud.  When I told her that this had been settled in 2010 and that I would call her back with the law firm who had settled this for me she gave me her number and extension.  After 3 tries and getting 2 other people I finally got Ms. Strong and gave her all the info and she told me that she was going to update my file.  Today my daughter who does not live with me got a call from them looking for me.  They left two numbers (855) 414-6205 and another number which was in my area code.  I called them immediately, told them the above and a man (who would not identify himself) told me that they were proceeding and I could bring this info to court.  I told him that I had worked in law for 30 years and his reply was that now he knew what kind of person I was.  I told him that I was a person who paid my debts and could prove it with the paperwork, he belittled me and hung up.

Just received a call from a Sabrina Watts from Bailey & Rowe. She stated I owe for CashNet USA from 2009. I told her I paid this debt with the collection agency. She stated they had no record. I asked why would they wait 5 years to contact me. She sais they have been trying to contact me via mail & phone. I told her that was not true. Whats so scary is that she had my mailing address(not physical), last 4 of my ss# & phn #. Said something about breech of contact & they will issue a warrant for me if I didnt pay by tomorrow. She said she will contact CashNET to make sure I was paid in full. I was terrified. Was on my way to the bank to get records of my payments that was made 4yrs ago until I decided to google the number. I was really scared!

    Report them:  See:  https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection

Also check with the police and attorney general in your state.

They call you again, just tell 'em you've reported them.   Say it loudly.

Some of these kitchen-table debt scammers like to pick on single women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the immigrant community.   They have information on worthless debts they have purchased and they know who to look for.  The calls are not random in your case and others like you who've been victimized.  They are predators and know what they are doing.

    Beware, take care.
