I got the same same today and also one from a 414 area code saying the same thing about a debit back in 2002 when i was 18.....gave me a doc number but of course when i asked to speak with the attorney handling my case they would not give that information to me. They stated that owed 822.10 and that i could pay 500 now to solve the issue. I am really over these calls.

For at least the last year, an illegal group of debt collectors have been terrorizing consumers, their family, friends, and employees threatening to arrest the individual of an unpaid loan or other debt (their generally don't even owe). Be aware debt is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, and you can't be arrested. They threaten a warrant if the victim does not pay a sum of money by the credit card over the phone.

Some of the people they are calling do not owe a debt.  Others they are calling have already settled their debt with the organization who owns the accounts. Even if you do owe a debt, do not be deceived by the actions of this group.  Many of the accounts they are attempting to collect they do not own.  In other words, if you pay these people, that is not going to clear your debt with its rightful owner.  

Although when pressed the callers give the victim an address in Columbia South Carolina (usually a vacant lot),  Atlanta GA (often a parking lot near the bus station or a Peachtree Road Address) or Phoenix AZ.  They are actually out of the Charlotte North Carolina area. The scammers are using the following business names (and there are many others, and they seem to create new ones daily).  They will normally answer the call back number as “Investigations”.  They often call people with a recording claiming they are looking for a "defendant"

I received a call in Oct 2014 from the Brevard County Sheriff's department stating a I had not paid back my last loan at Check N Go from 2010. This WAS a legitimate call although I HAD paid that loan and I tore up the original check. I received an email notice from them stating my debt had been fulfilled. Fast forward to the end of Feb 2015 and I received a call from a "Croft and something" legal associates stating I have another outstanding debt with Check N Go for $700. I was perplexed as you cannot get another "advance" until you have fulfilled payment of the previous one. The lady stated her name was Amanda Croft. She had all my personal information. I told her there was no way I owed them any more money because I had just paid for a check (with interest) back in October and I couldn't owe for two advances. She threatened to send the county sheriff's department to my address to serve me with a subpoena. I paid back in October even though I knew I didn't owe anyone any money. But this time I knew something was going on strange. I told her I had paperwork stating I had paid this debt. So I just hung up on here and she hasn't called back. She did tell me I had been officially notified of this debt. She did give me two other numbers where I could call to get an address to send my copy of debt relief to but they have never once answered the phones. I am thinking this is a group of what sounds like some wannabe lawyers or possibly even some lawyers that have been disbarred orchestrating this scam. The lady said the name of the firm so fast I only caught the first name and the phone number was different but I am sure it is just another link to all these calls because every time I try to call them back the phone just rings and rings and rings... Some of the numbers I have received calls from this last time are 305-222-7279, 347-426-1953 and 855-336-9448.

A phone call, email or text message from a supposed debt collector is not legally sufficient evidence of debt.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:

* Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money.   ["Written" means snailmailed - US Mail ... not emailed or texted]

Therefore, if that caller wants you to pay immediately, before you get the written validation notice via snailmail, or if the caller wants payment via green dot, Western Union, or other untraceable means, then the call is definitely not legitimate.
