- Angie| 8 repliesTHIS IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT PAY THEM A PENNY! I got a call from them stating that I owed a bank $400 and with legal fees etc... I have to pay them over $2,000. I do not owe ANY bank money. I have done my research and know how to get these jerks off my back. First in order for any collection agency, etc to advise you to pay a debt, they must first do so in writing. This is known as a "validation notice." The notice must include the original creditor's name, the actual amount you owe, and most importantly, your rights under the Federal Debt Collection Practices Act. If they fail to provide you with this info, DO NOT PAY THEM. Also chack with your state Attorney General's office to find out if the debt falls under the statute of limitations, which prevents a creditor from suing for old debts. Don't get scammed by these idiot's. Do your research! Know your rights!

- Badge714 replies to jonnyScram chump. What part of foreign 3rd world scamming criminals trying to extort money from America's on fake debt don't you get? NEVER pay any debt unless you receive proof of debt in the mail box. That's US Mail - not fax, text, or email, or stupid comments from boiler room Mumbai jonny, who never finish school in India (which makes him part of the 90%).
- Breeanna| 1 replyRevived a call from this number twice saying I owe on a debt which is a fraudulent claim. Asked for their making address several times (6) to be exact they hung up on me each and every time. Finally a man answered told me that I owed a debt from 2009 which I do not. I asked again for his making info so I could pass it to my attorney he called me rude obnoxious and a few other gems told me if I contined to call back it's harassment. Than passed me to his supervisor who told me is this your address ........ We will send you a summons.. This is a scam I feel bad for people who fall for it.

- HoneyThese people called asking for one name, stating that could only speak that that person and needed a Case #. I called on behalf of the person they were trying to reach and they stated they were looking for someone with same name but last name was different. I told them I was that persons attorney and when I got to speak with a male representative he told me he couldn't disclose any information until they spoke with that person first, so then they called the number right back and said my name and they knew I wasn't an attorney, I was their spouse. I said so and asked why they were calling and they wouldn't give me any information. So my husband was out of town so I called him and told him this number called about an investigation. So my husband called and they tried telling him that he owed for some title of a vehicle from 2008 and that he would have to go to court and it will cost him a ton of fee's and etc. WHAT A SCAM!!! For one bought a vehicle in 2007 and still have and paid for that vehicle and we now own it, and we recently bought a second vehicle with no problems in 2013, so if there was apparently true we wouldn't have been able to get our latest vehicle. DO NOT FALL FOR THESE PEOPLE they wouldn't even tell me their "Company" they were calling from.

- Personal| 1 replyThis number contacted my employer and stated that he was an "Investigator" working on an investigation regarding me personally and left a company name, this number and a case file number. At the advise of our on staff legal counsel, I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office due the fact that they spoke with someone other than myself and gave out information to one of my employees. I do not have any unpaid debts that are in default, nor have I received any written notification stating as such.

- TamianthAs per Shill KIll (registered user):
For at least the last year, an illegal group of debt collectors have been terrorizing consumers, their family, friends, and employees threatening to arrest the individual of an unpaid loan or other debt (their generally don't even owe). Be aware debt is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, and you can't be arrested. They threaten a warrant if the victim does not pay a sum of money by the credit card over the phone.
Some of the people they are calling do not owe a debt. Others they are calling have already settled their debt with the organization who owns the accounts. Even if you do owe a debt, do not be deceived by the actions of this group. Many of the accounts they are attempting to collect they do not own. In other words, if you pay these people, that is not going to clear your debt with its rightful owner.
Although when pressed the callers give the victim an address in Columbia South Carolina (usually a vacant lot) or Atlanta GA (often a parking lot near the bus station or a Peachtree Road Address). They are actually out of the Charlotte North Carolina area. The scammers are using the following business names (and there are many others, and they seem to create new ones daily). They will normally answer the call back number as “Investigations”. They often call people with a recording claiming they are looking for a "defendant"

- mauigirl86 replies to jonny| 1 replyYou must be part of the scam to reply with this post. This fake company is harassing a past client of ours whose debt was discharged in a bankruptcy. Be advised that we are informing all of our clients of this phone number and company name and we have already contacted the FBI and our attorney general's office with a report on the phone call I had with one of their "employees" who was rude, argumentative and insulting on a personal level. He actually said, "that's how I talk to ignorant people." among other things. Now I know why he did not want to accept the simple, legal information I was trying to convey to this company before I knew this was/is a scam!

- NaomiThey need to be stopped!!! I'm way over it. When I call the number and asked to be taken off the list they just hung up on me. I called 4 times in a row, all hung up on me. These are people making like $3.00 an hour and could give 2 Sh*ts about you. I'm over it.
- SommerI filed a report on them just now after they called my dad and threatened to arrest me if they did not get a half me.
- LizJust received a phone call from this number and the person on the end asked for my husband, who was not available. The caller then said he was "Investigator Josh Alexander" and he was calling to let my husband know that there are "two allegations" being filed with our County Court, by the supposed law office of Johnston and Moore, which does not exist in my state! When I asked him to explain what these allegations were he said he couldn't give out that information and my husband was to call him back. Should I report this to our local police? How should this be handled? Thank you in advance for your response.
- nematodeReceived a call from 855-393-4311. The caller said, courtesy call. They want to collect on a time-barred debt. Threatened a lawsuit been filed in my county against me, and arrest by sheriff if I did not pay. Proceeded to collect his phone number, and report to the police, FCC, and Attorney General.

- Gwenn| 1 replyI just received a call from these guys at work yesterday AND today, saying it was a legal matter. They were told yesterday I couldn't take personal calls at work and they said they'd talk to my HR dept and Supervisor about the matter. Today they called again Johnston & Miles, and got their info and said again I couldn't take personal calls at work. They guy tried to say this was the first time HE had called on the account, but I explained it didn't matter as his Company had already been told and I'd be filing a complaint with ConsumerFinance.gov. He called right back after I hung up too! told him the same thing, and as soon as I hung up that time - I filed the complaint. I had received calls from "Olsen & Miles" which is listed above as well, same spill, and I already filed a complaint against them as well. I do in fact owe a debt they are claiming but the collections agency who owns the debt per my credit report has never even heard of these people - in fact they aren't actively collecting on it at the moment because I had to dispute some of the info such as balances. I'll be paying them directly once this is resolved, not some scammers!

- Mike-in-MD replies to GwennFor the lurkers, this is exactly how this caller should be handled. Gwenn verified by her credit report who legally owns her debt and is working directly with that firm who seems to have followed the law in their contact with her. This scamming debt collector has probably been trolling credit reports and using that information to try and scare people who owe money into paying them. They will never try and sue since they know without a doubt they could not prove they are the legal owners of the debt and would face fines if they ever went to court for their illegal actions.
