- CWG40 replies to MichelleTotal scam. Do not return their calls. Do not talk to them. Do not give them any information. Block their calls. If a case has been filed you can find out about it by simply checking with your local country courts civil list by defendant name. Some places allow you to do this on line. Most likely nothing has been filed against you.
- cautiousA woman going by the name Joyce Rogers working for ARS Assoiciates have called my father yesterday giving a claim number and saying I owe on a pay day loan and need to pay or I will have warrents issued. They never contacted me before until today- the following day after they called my father. The call came in under number 810-580-4290. I was given a different number to call this woman back at with an extension; 888-408-9655 ext. 0084. She said a file against me was given to them this morning (yet they called my dad yesterday about it?) and the arbitrators are willing to settle for a payment of $465 that needs to be paid before 5pm today or a Judge Walker will issue warrents.
I asked to be sent any information via United States Postal Service and she refused but kept pressing an offer to send me information via e-mail. I am a recent new mother and she said my wages will be garnished if I do not pay by 5pm. Yet, I am a homemaker now (cheaper to be a stay at home mom than pay someone to raise my child while my husband and I are at work).
I asked for her work address since I would be dealing with her. She told me she couldn't give me her actual work address and wasn't allowed to, but she did provide her 'corporate address' which is 1125 Martin Luther King Drive, Suite 2001, Atlanta, Georgia 30310. Phone number 678-671-4319.
Was also given some other comlanies name of Wallace & Watkins. Don't remember what she said they have to do with.
Needless to say it is fraudulent. This is a scam. They want me to pay over the phone using my debit or credit card or a prepaid card only.- Caller: ARS Associations

- ShillKillFor at least the last year, an illegal group of debt collectors have been terrorizing consumers, their family, friends, and employees threatening to arrest the individual of an unpaid loan or other debt (their generally don't even owe). Be aware debt is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, and you can't be arrested. They threaten a warrant if the victim does not pay a sum of money by the credit card over the phone.
Some of the people they are calling do not owe a debt. Others they are calling have already settled their debt with the organization who owns the accounts. Even if you do owe a debt, do not be deceived by the actions of this group. Many of the accounts they are attempting to collect they do not own. In other words, if you pay these people, that is not going to clear your debt with its rightful owner.
Although when pressed the callers give the victim an address in Columbia South Carolina (usually a vacant lot), Atlanta GA (often a parking lot near the bus station or a Peachtree Road Address) or Phoenix AZ. They are actually out of the Charlotte North Carolina area. The scammers are using the following business names (and there are many others, and they seem to create new ones daily). They will normally answer the call back number as “Investigations”. They often call people with a recording claiming they are looking for a "defendant"

The SAME company called my other cell phone from an 810-580-4290. I called the 810 number back and asked them if their number was 888-408-9655, the man on the other line said 'yes'. I asked him why he was calling me from an 810-580-4290 number. His response was "Uh, Uh, Uh, Uh".... I then said, "You don't know your own phone number?" His response then was, "Ma'am, I am not in control of the phone systems. Stop harrassing us or we will sue you."
LOL........... a law office with a phone number of 888-408-9655 doesn't know why when they call my phone it shows up as 810-580-4290. They are not in control of the phone systems. SCAM.

I told her my debts have been paid. She then asked me to send her the information on it ( ie: important numbers). I told her to send me a hard copy in the mail of the collection she tried to bully me and I got fed up with her so I said take me to court and hung up. She also called my brother and tried to get him to make me call her. Do not pay anything over the phone. Make sure you have evidence on hard copies, and make sure you save your documents

- Per the FDCPA... replies to Debt free...you should not pay any caller who refuses to MAIL - do not accept email, fax or text - proof of debt/proof your caller has the legal right to collect said debt. Refusal to mail this documentation within five days of the initial contact with you is another violation of federal law. Per federal law, you do not have the burden of proving that you don't owe your callers money. The debt collector (or caller) has to prove that you owe them. More info here:

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

http://www.fraud.org/ - Tired of the BSToday I received a second phone call from these scammers, but this time they called my job. He said that his name was BLAIR PIERCE an Investigator for Nationwide Access Recovery. Telephone number 1-888-408-9655 ext. 0096. He tried to scare me with the same tactics stating that I had a warrant for my arrest from a payday loan that I paid in full already. I asked him several questions of his identity and address, but he avoided every question that I had asked repeating from the same script. I truly wish that some sort of REAL law enforcement will arrest these individuals because I am tired of dealing with all of their harassment.

- RyanThese guys called my mom's house, claiming I needed to give some sort of deposition. They said to call back at 888-408-9655 ext 0079. I called they told me I opened an account with Baxter Credit Union, or Bank...I forget which. Anyway, they said I received a $900 credit account, took the money, didn't pay it back and the account was now in collections. They said I could settle the account for $400 right now or they would pursue the matter in court. I told them I never opened such and account and I am disputing it. They said they'd send the paperwork.
After this call, I immediately went to www.annualcreditreport.com. My credit score is very high and there is no mention of this account ever being opened or being in a negative status.
These callers are apparently scammers. I doubt the paperwork will ever arrive.- Call type: Debt collector

- katie replies to KatieCalled and told them it was bogus they told me to quote "get my bail money ready " and hung up...i informed my lawyer of this harassment
- jrReceived a message on my cellphone today. Was from a guy named Pierce who is supposed to be an investigator. Says i need to contact him within 24 hours and left a number of 888-408-9655 ext. 0096. Definitely sounds like a scam and will not call him back or give any info if I happen to speak to him since he does not say who is working for. Need to send anything in writing if they have anything. Will be sending complaint to the FTC and state attorney's office in the meantime and blocking any calls. .
