Another day, another call from a company called PORTFOLIO RECOVERY, according to their Caller ID. They use loads of numbers, but this is a new one. In the short time I've had my number, they have called hundreds of times; today, they never left a message, either. Other numbers they use:

Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time,date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

And yet the hits keep coming!  Has anyone seen anything from the judgments yet?  It looks like these people are continuing to get away with their fraud with impunity.

See if more people report them and always record them  and save there numbers they use spoof numbers and no your rights these scammers can be stop. It is important   To report them and always go to lawyer no your rights.

While it is important to "know" your rights and to report them, recording must be done within state law guidelines.  If you are in a 2 party state, then you must inform them upfront that you are recording them. Failure to do that and at the very least your recording would be inadmissible in court. At the very worst you could end up facing wiretapping charges.

Got the call. Didn't answer. No message.  This is one of 16 numbers PRA has used to call me. I have to assume it is PRA based on the posts on this website.

Can you read?  There are multiple reports just ahead of you explaining what you can do.

Have been getting calls from this outfit since 2002.  They used to have a fake "Kelly Smith" recording.  Phone company verified for me that the person they kept asking for had my number in the late '90's before it was assigned to me.  The recording had an option to press a number if you were not the person they were trying to reach.  It never had any effect whatsoever.  Just got another call today from this new number.  All I can say is thank goodness they only call once a month or so now rather than several times per day.

Yet another....must be the 150th number from these people.  Change your phone number.  It's the only way.

All you do is get someone else's headaches along with that "new" number as its someones old number! So you can go from bad to worse doing that!  Read my post and big A's above then put a stop to them..

Thank you so much Wolfman for taking the time to post all this info.  They just called me again this morning.  After reading this I wish I had picked up.  Now I can't wait for them to call so I can ask them where is my money and when do they expect to pay it in full.

Portfolio Recovery again. They never leave a message and I don't answer when they call. I wonder if anybody ever sends Portfolio the money they claim someone owes and the outcome.
