- Joe| 3 repliesIdiot called asked if they could speak to Joe. I said no, but what you can do is commit suicide and make the world a better place. The lady said this is a recorded line, I said I don't care you called me I didn't call you. Merry Christmas I hope you die.
- Caller: Unknown
- smh| 1 replyPortfolio Recovery or whatever. Guess they thought not using their name in the caller ID would make a difference. Whatever.
- Caller: Portfolio
- Call type: Debt collector
- BigA replies to smh"Portfolio Recovery or whatever" Is it Portfolio or is it someone else? Or you simply don't know and have speculated?
- mousey replies to Joe| 2 repliesAnd this accomplishes what? You haven't told us anything to identify caller, just that you didn't like the call. Give us something to work with, like a possible caller name or claim. Nasty doesn't do anything except make you look bad.
- BillSame idiots different #. Scammer can die as far as I care too. They have the wrong number and they need to stop calling as I have told them and their headquarters to do so. Now I have to file another complaint ! Die sc**bag

- billHere's their other numbers. Their full business name is not Out of Order or Account Services but Portfolio Recovery Associates and they have many suits against them.
They keep calling me and they use a different number no matter how many times I finally call them back to tell them they are calling the wrong person. They politely say we'll remove your number or They keep saying they don't have my number in their directory yet I can show they called me.
I called their litigation dept and the pr*** refused after 8 very polite requests for their address so that I can send them a cease and desist letter after I file with several other agencies, BBB, Consumer Fraud, etc. etc. Other numbers they use-

- Dan| 1 replyI usually tell them the person died or start screaming "why you people keep calling me".
Sometimes I give them a new number to call, 800-225-5324, (FBI customer service).- Caller: scammers
- Call type: Telemarketer
- BigA replies to DanTelling them that the person is dead could come back to bite you. If it gets reported it will affect everything in your life. Proven fact.
Now the rest is just childish. The proper way to handle a DC is to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation letter, cease and desist calling letter, or a "not me" letter. File reports on their criminal activities with the proper agencies, and then go out get a lawyer and sue them, thus having the best year of your life.

I have to wonder why an allegedly “legitimate “business would need so many phone numbers to call out on?
Web page with contact information: http://www.portfoliorecovery.com/contact_us.html
Make sure you read how they just lost an 83 million dollar lawsuit against them: http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article21073359.html
Make sure you read how the NY AG spanked them bad on May 1, 2014 in the following BBB page.
BBB page with 1,322 complaints, 3 negative reviews a government action from the State of New York, an alert, and yet they get an accredited B+ rating (down from an A at least but they must still be paying big bucks for that rating)? http://www.bbb.org/norfolk/business-reviews/d ... olk-va-51000164
Bizapedia has them as a Delaware Corporation started in 2007 as opposed to the information on the BBBB page that says 1996:

They were listed among the worst offenders on the late Bud Hibb's site!
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices: http://consumerfraudreporting.org/stateattorneygenerallist.php - LC replies to mousey| 1 replyI agree with Mousey. You don't have to make the person on the other end of the line feel bad just for doing their job. Get mad at the company, not the individual caller.
- LCCalled my work number. Didn't leave a voicemail.
- Caller: Portfolio Recovery Associates
- Call type: Debt collector
- William ross| 1 replyStop calling
- GaryH| 1 replyGot the call. Didn't answer. No message. This is one of about 90 numbers the Portfolio Recovery uses. I have no unpaid debt, so they are obviously grasping at straws or looking for the previous owner of my phone number.
- Caller: Illinois Call
- Call type: Debt collector
- BigA replies to GaryH90? they have around 300 numbers. This is why people need to know how to properly handle crooks like this. Everything you need to know is up there in that other post. Send them a certified, return receipt "not me" letter. File complaints with the proper agencies, and then sue them if need be. Some woman in Kansas did and nailed them for 83 million because they did the same thing to her that they are doing to you.
