I just got a call from the same number --- left no message - I know no one at this prefix.  It is suspicious.

If it's an out of state number and/or a number you don't recognize.
If they leave no message.
Chalk it up to a robodialer.
That means that you should just ignore.  Never answer.  Get a call blocker.

This is a debt collector who calls from many MANY different number.

Someone called this afternoon at 2:30 PM and the caller ID said Strongsville, OH.  But the call was really from Portfolio Recovery who is a debt collector - http://www.portfoliorecovery.com and they have many, many, many numbers to harass you with.  The website claims “Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC are here to help you pay your debt.  Call 800.772.1413 to speak with an Account Representative…”

Scumbag debt collector trying to get payment on undocumented debt barred by statute of limitations from father who died 10 years ago.

Called on house phone, did not leave message. I do not answer unknown phone numbers. My guess is that it is PORTFOLIO RECOVERY .This outfit trys to collect on ZOOMBIE debt. DO NOT ANSWER THIS NUMBER.

Chances are it is an incoming robodialer call the problem with a blocker Is if if the calling number is a collections phone number it cannot be blocked,collections phone numbers cannot be blocked.

Without a doubt associated with portfolio they call from many various area phone numbers and usually from phone numbers that dont reflect being a business associated phone numbers,So some answer the call out of curiousity as to who maybe calling.

There are Debt Statutes of Limitations by state on the internet and it's interesting to see how Short many of the Statutes are.

This is from Portfolio "Recovery, which is actually Capital One. They go after long past statute of limitation debts and are pretty much scammers since they cannot sue or obtain judgements.  Don't waste money on lawyer as they ignore any and all laws.. They were told to stop by my state's AG office and still harrass. They go after seniors on ss with bogus claims. Just trash.

This # has called me several time looking for different people. A collection agency . That has false information and trying to get $$ from people that are either retired or on ssi. The lady tried telling me I owed on some old debt and wanted payment. Than tried calling back on a different # and asked for my spouse .... tried playing the same game

I have an app called Call Blockr... LOL. And, I have a home business where numbers are sent to my cell from my office when I'm in the field working. So, if I don't know the number, they are forced to leave a message at my office and/or be blocked via my cell. I agree with you. Many companies are using a plethora of numbers to reach a person and they are one entity. I think it's ridiculous and harassment. I suggest everyone to add 'every' phone they have under the 'Do Not Call' Registry. Even cellular phones are reachable now as if they are land lines. It used to be, no one had your cell unless the person personally shared it - not anymore. So, I'm all about privacy and safety, "Protect Yourself" at all costs!!! God bless...

I just got a call from this number, too.  Looks like it is from Portfolio from what the others are saying.  This is about the 10th call from them...all using different numbers.  I also don't owe anything.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

This is definitely one of the many numbers Porfolio Recovery Associates uses. These people have been calling for months. I have no unpaid debts, never have. My credit score is in the 800s. This is one of PRA's 171 numbers that I have blocked on my phone. I do not know where "Sees it real" ,above, gets the idea that collections numbers can't be blocked.

They call my listed number several times a day from many numbers. I've never had a Capital One card, no debt, and my Experian FICO is 856.  I'm a senior as well with no debt.  I'm cancelling my Verizon triple pack, which includes my telephone number.  I've never understood the concept of paying more for an unlisted number and less for a listed one.  Now I know why.  My cell number is still secure.

Just when I thought I'd seen every myth twice .... By what sorcery does a debt collector selectively disable call blocker hardware and software? Those gadgets are pattern-matching to alphanumeric sequences. Only a human can derive their meaning.
